The Dillard campaign did a media swing yesterday to formally announce state Rep. Jil Tracy as their lieutenant governor nominee. Part of that roll out included a video to introduce the Quincy-based legislator. Rate it in comments below…

It’s fine, but, seriously, who’s going to sit through the whole thing?
Shorter is better.

Perfect pose in front of the “WE SUPPORT STATE EMPLOYEES” sign!

Yeah he’s posing alright.

Good video. It introduces Tracy to the base. It’s not a tv commercial. Not everything has to happen in :30. There was some phony head nodding at 3:13 that was a little distracting but overall not a big deal. Good candidate introduction. A

Nicely done, though I thought it was a little long. I’m not for Kirk, but Jil Tracy is an excellent choice.

Good video but at the 5:25ish mark couldn’t they blur out the Bud Light sign. I like Dillard but he doesn’t look like a Light beer guy to me.

Well done, way too much ‘B Roll’, the stills over the narrative were better than seeing the nodding and the walking. Music was appropriate and not overwhelming, and Tracy did a good job, looking at ease, making her case.
Tracy was better speaking directly, than speaking over the coountless ‘B Roll’.
I am going to say it before someone else does. the picture of Dillard and Tracy, with Dillard wearing the D Lard sticker … it takes away from the “other” message of the sign in the window “we support state employees” bit.
Solid B+ effort, good introduction of her, but less of the stock footage and more of the still pictures would have made more of an impact, especially going 5 minutes of smiling and nodding for really no reason.
Good work.

All in all a good intro, but more importantly she can help Dillard, who is the best choice of all current candidates to be our next Governor.

Word, I sat thru the whole thing, but I knew nothing about her. Agree it was a little long. Missed some of the details that others have commented on. Think it was a good intro for Tracy.

It’s definitely too long. The production quality is good. While the head nodding might be bothersome to some, it’s important to establish her image with people. My own approach would have been to break this up into 5 bite size pieces of a minute each dealing with 5 areas of the message. Then I would run them one at a time a day or two apart from each other and give people a chance to get to know her in a manner where they self direct the information to themselves based on what her positions and message were. Nothing wrong with the production at all. Good musical bed and she’s got plenty of presence to pull off delivering a message. The length though, does leave a situation where 80% of it may not be seen by many. We’ll see.

the lighting is terrible-was it filmed at a haunted house? I will say though it is a ticket with heft.

I liked the music and the beat. I’d give her a 9. It was a little long but it isn’t like the video is going on national television so “it was fine”. Actually, after watching the video I think she should be running for governor and Kirk should be going for the governor-lite slot.

As others have noted, I couldn’t help but notice the pose in front of the “WE SUPPORT STATE EMPLOYEES” by two politicians who DON’T support state employees.
To the video, it was too long.

Shore, the lighting was fantastic. Looked like something out of 60minutes with very high production value. Do you prefer the flat look of florescent light? The lighting was A+++++ production quality. There are things to nitpick but that is certainly not one of them.

It’s long but a very good introduction and show’s that Dillard made a solid choice of a qualified candidate.
Dillard and Tracy are by far the best team to lead the state. Unfortunately, the best does not always win in this messed up GOP and state.
Dillard needs to raise the $$$ to compete especially against folks like Rauner who is trying to buy the election and forming unethical yet legal PAC’s.

Agree that this presentation serves as a good introduction to Tracy for those who will take the time to view the video. Not sure what role it will play in the campaign. Tracy will provide some marginal help to Dillard in southern and west central Illinois. It does not appear that she will give much of a boost to his candidacy beyond these areas. It will be interesting to observe the extent of the Tracy family’s investment in the Dillard-Tracy campaign. Could this have been a factor in her selection as Dillard’s running mate?

Nice work by Jil, but it’s too long. I didn’t love the music or the narrator.

Well done video that meets the purpose of introducing Jil Tracy to primary voters. A well balanced ticket with an LG capable of assuming the Governorship if necessary.
