Around 6:15 this morning, my husband and I were the second and third people to vote in Ward 25, Precinct 5. Go Chuy!

Mrs. Rabid is out walking for a neighboring aldermanic race: “Knock, knock, get up and vote, dammit!” And I’m listening to Bob Weir et al in my bathrobe. Thanks.

I was the 10th to vote in the 19th ward at 6:50 this morning.

Oops, should mention 44th Precinct

Also in ward 25 chicago. Vote early, Go Chuy!

One rare Rahm sign close to the polling place, two campaign workers outside and a big Chuy/Milly Santiago combo sign on the corner. I’m in Chuy territory.
I early voted on Saturday–around 12 people were waiting to vote/voting.

Early voted in Aurora, in my part of town only school boards (CC and Oswego 308) were contested races.
Oswego should/could be interesting today.

Chuy signs all over the 1, 2 and 27th wards… Looks like a good ground game.

In my precinct in the 47th ward, 50 votes cast by 8:30am and 50 early/absentee, for 100 total. 288 cast in Feb so should be similar turnout.

Can’t see any signs or voters through the central Illinois fog

Been to three different polling places. More election judges, and more people passing palm cards, than voters, at all three places.

Totally unrelated, but there was a fatal plane crash by Bloomington.

At 7 am on the west side of Springfield, I was voter #12. The machines weren’t working and I wound up putting my ballot in a bin. Not very private but I think they were doing their best.

Goodies drop for judges in north DuPage. Sloooooow. In 8 precincts, the biggest turnout by 8am was 26 voters. Lowest had 18. No waiting at any of them. Early voting was active in Downers Grove. Elsewhere, not so much.

- OneMan -,
Between the school board race in SD308 and the Village Board and President races, will be a very interesting watch today. Oswego will be fun to watch, from inside and for outsiders.

I’m involved in one of the livelier races in the suburbs. A group of four Tea Party affiliated candidates is attempting to take over the Elgin District U-46 school board (2nd largest district in Illinois). I’m one of five candidates running to prevent this from happening (five seats are up). Joe Walsh and Dan Proft have thrown fundraisers for their group’s PAC, which has provided them with the cash to launch a major effort. Race turned ugly with a robocall on Easter Sunday morning claiming to be me and the candidates I’m working with wanting to raise property taxes. It’s been quite an experience.
As for turnout, pretty low in DuPage portion of the district so far.

Good luck Larry. We’ve seen this play out before and it’s never pretty.

No line for my precinct voting at Nettlehorst School in Lakeview, but there’s always a line for the other precinct that votes there, and there was today, as well. Judging by how slowly their line always moves, I suspect there are some issues with election judges checking people in, but there’s no doubt that they also have more people voting. Two Chuy signs just outside the blue “no electioneering” cones, nothing for Rahm.
Comment by Jabes Tuesday, Apr 7, 15 @ 9:43 am
In 2, there are more people passing lit than voting.
It is sort of funny that the people doing so for each side seem to like each other. Precinct after precinct you see the Hopkins and Pattison people standing together, laughing, and then try to convince voters who come along. Too bad more elections are not fought in the good spirit we are seeing here.
Comment by Gooner Tuesday, Apr 7, 15 @ 9:52 am
Short line for my precinct (5th Ward, 18th precinct), longer line for the other precinct (23rd) that votes at the same polling place. It’s usually the other way around!
With just the one race on the ballot, I was in and out in no time.
No signs for either Chuy or Rahm.
Comment by JoanP Tuesday, Apr 7, 15 @ 9:54 am
I don’t understand passing out literature today. There are one or possibly two elections to vote for. I just can’t see why anybody would go vote and still be undecided as they walked in and be convinced by a slick flier to cast their vote for a different candidate.
Comment by Carhartt Representative Tuesday, Apr 7, 15 @ 10:13 am
13th person to vote in the 10th precinct of the 25th ward at 7:30 this morning. A ton of Rahm and Chuy signs up in the neighborhood, in February there were none.
Comment by westlooping Tuesday, Apr 7, 15 @ 10:14 am
Very weak turnout in the early morning here in an industrial south suburban town. It’s picked up somewhat the past couple of hours though. There have also been some shenanigans from the incumbents.

Folks were voting in the East Bluff in Peoria. At 8:30am we were not the first voters.
Comment by frayedcat Tuesday, Apr 7, 15 @ 10:58 am
BTW, Rich - did you get GD tickets? I tried and failed.

At 7 a.m. this morning, number 10 to vote in my precinct. Like someone else said, more election judges than voters.

Still pretty slow in Addison and Bloomingdale Townships.
