Trump and Clinton declared victors in FL
Rubio never should have been an active candidate in Florida.
That is ignorant to the long term. Rubio being beat in Florida, he’s beyond damaged now, he’ll have to rethink… at 44

What was the point of Zopp’s candidacy, anyway?
For someone who’s been a player in high-altitude circles for a long time, it’s just been weird from the get-go.
Comment by wordslinger Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 6:14 pm
Wordslinger - thats what happens when Bill Daley puts his political thinking cap on. He’s a smart guy and I do have respect for him, but Rich and John are the true politicos in the family.

I’m jonesing for a Dunkin defeat
Comment by Is he out yet Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 6:24 pm
I read a blog that predicted the downfall of the democrats because of their tendency (nationally) to slot candidates in primaries thus subverting the will of the people. They mentioned Zopp as being a strong candidate subverted by party bosses. I gotta stop reading that stuff.
Comment by relocated Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 6:29 pm
Polls across Sangamon County have run out of ballots- and people (predominantly the just-got-out-of-work crowd) have been turned away.
Sounds like Rauner has a “superstar” at the Board of Elections.

Zopp flops and Dunkin done in — things are slightly better I the world.
Comment by Cathartt Representative Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 6:45 pm
But I believe they were trying to get additional ballots and would remain open til 8:30pm. And anyone in line should be allowed to vote then.

If the early results hold, I hope Mr. Dunkin didn’t spend all 30 pieces of silver that Rauner gave him. He’s going to be needing it, and something tells me Bruce isn’t going to be returning his calls. Dunkin would be useless if he lost.

Just watched the most horrible political speech ever by Mark Kirk. Truly embarrassing for him and for the State
Comment by Cgo75 Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 7:02 pm
Watched Kirk on CLTV. His substance and tone are both way off. Fear mongering in a way that won’t work in Illinois.

What happened to Dunkin is what happens to those who sell out their constituents and those they previously supported. The ploy to not vote for HB580, the union anti-strike bill, in which Dunkin held the bill hostage with sudden introduction of “minority underutilization” legislation, was just…I can’t utter the words. It was doing Rauner’s bidding.
I just saw a bit of the Stratton presser. Awesome.

The Sangamon County Clerk, Don Gray, sure has some questions to answer. How can you not print enough ballots, have a system to quickly print and deliver extras, not have a peon answering your phone all day, and then call your self a competent elected official. Bogus stuff.

Comment by illini Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 8:37 pm
cdog, I don’t wanna jump to conclusions without all the info, but you raise some concerns about the performance of the Sangamon Clerk’s office that need to be addressed, and promptly. Noteworthy that over in Champaign Clerk Hulten had some of the same problems, including having the County’s phone system crash, and his folks got the job done including the U of I campus with registering several hundred same-day voters.
Comment by Arthur Andersen Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 8:37 pm

Comment by illinois manufacturer Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 8:48 pm
Ken, unless you plan to move to Wilmette, now is the time to redeem yourself, go out on an up note and vote with the dems to override Rauner for the benefit of your constituents. It’s not a loss to say I’m a representative who has learned that I was wrong to support the Republican governor against the will of my constituents. I have heard their voice loud and clear now, and will work to implement their clearly spoken will.
Ken, it’s never to late to do the right thing. Go out chastened, but determined to right the wrong. Override with the dems, and become a prodigal son returning to the fold.
Comment by PublicServant Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 8:49 pm
AA, I may have been too harsh, but there wasn’t just a few problems here or there. Given what has happened in the presidential races this year and the high spending local races, higher turnout should have been expected. Communications problems should be non-existent with today’s technology. Throw-in same day registration and you clearly see the need for some major fixes for the next election.

3) resign
