*** LIVE ELECTION NEWS ***

* OK, so I decided we needed four posts instead of three. I didn’t want to muck up the two partisan election returns posts with election news about both parties, so here it is via ScribbleLive

Chatham was out of Republican ballots at 530. Weren’t sure they would be getting anymore or not.

  2. - ihatepolitics - Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 5:10 pm:

How do you run out of ballots when every state primary prior to Illinois reported higher than expected turnout? These county clerks need to be held accountable.

  3. - Nick - Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 5:14 pm:

My parents’ precinct here in Adams County is out of ballots for both parties, and has been since at least an hour ago

  4. - Paceman - Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 5:34 pm:

Voting extended to 8:30pm in Sangamon County due to shortage of ballots in 10 precincts.

  5. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 5:42 pm:

For the record, never in Kendall County have we used all 43 Democratic ballots before. We didn’t know what to do.

  6. - wordslinger - Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 5:42 pm:

Is anyone making book on the significance of ballot shortages around Springfield and the extended hours in Sangamon County?

  7. - Six Degrees of Separation - Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 5:49 pm:

OW, in that case you could’ve given ‘em GOP ballots and told them to write in if they didn’t like any of their choices. /s

Reporter notebook: Anita Alvarez’s headquarters in Palmer House where there are no TV’s to see results, no balloons or signs, says our crew.–

Alvarez certainly does have the video problems.

I’m guessing the audio has malfunctioned, too.

  9. - Ducky LaMoore - Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 5:52 pm:

A combination of factors is most certainly driving Democratic turnout. OW, ready to leave the dark side yet???

  10. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 5:55 pm:

    Donald Trump golfed today.

    Tom Cross would be proud!

I’m going to be fascinated to see how Raunerites do tonight…

Four years ago precincts CC 2 and 3 in Champaign had 39 voters. As of 5 pm today they had had almost 500.

I think everyone got so confused they forgot about that… option.

    - Ducky LaMoore -,

I’ll wait for the River Wards to come in first, LOL

  14. - Arthur Andersen - Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 6:34 pm:

Tornado Warning for just west of Springfield. Hope all have voted and are in a safe place.

Rubio drops out of presidential race

  16. - Nearly Normal - Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 7:26 pm:

Our polling place was so busy the last two hours that we did not have time to take a count at 6:00 p.m. Over 800 voted. We were swamped but did not run out of ballots. I have only a small amount of experience as an election judge but I was impressed at the number of young adults who voted. Many but not all took Democrat ballots. There are apartments in part of our district that house students and the number who registered as first time voters was high. Also had high school seniors who voted for the first time.

Cruz won our district 2:1 over Trump and Sanders beat Hillary by about the same margin.

That picture of Dunkin’s headquarters… just wow. You should know how low you’ve sunk when you can’t get anyone to come eat free food.

  18. - cdog - Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 8:48 pm:

Dunkin said, “I reached out to Juliana Stratton and warmly congratulated her.”

Rauner told him to say that too. Did Dunkin really call? We know Rauner did not in Nov 2015. Ha!

  19. - nate - Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 9:04 pm:

Just heard from my parents in Adams county that they got to their polling place at 6pm and didn’t get to vote until 9:25 due to a ballot shortage. And they only got to vote then because there happened to be a judge in their precinct waiting to vote who issued an order to allow voters to vote on ballots from another precinct. Appears to be a problem throughout the county: http://www.whig.com/article/20160315/ARTICLE/303159795

  20. - Politix - Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 9:04 pm:

Very satisfying to see Dunkin finally go down. No doubt he will next be discarded by Bruce like last night’s trash.

So is Dunk’s last day June 30? The end of the fiscal year?

  21. - Arthur Andersen - Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 9:10 pm:

Waiting for Dunkin to dim the lights and belt out “My Way.”

Waiting for Dunkin to dim the lights and belt out “Bruce’s Way”.

There, fixed it for ya’ /s

  23. - Arthur Andersen - Tuesday, Mar 15, 16 @ 9:36 pm:

    Gruntled, lol!
