* A new Morning Consult & POLITICO Exit Poll of early and Election Day shows that voters going to the polls are anxious, angry, and just want the 2016 election to be over. The Morning Consult/POLITICO Exit Poll was conducted October 18 - November 8, 2016 among 6,782 early/Election Day Voters. The interviews were conducted online and the data were weighted to approximate a target sample of registered voters based on age, race/ethnicity, gender, educational attainment, and region. The results have a margin of error of +/- 1 percent.

* Decision day for Illinois voters on president, Senate and beyond: The Center for Responsive Politics calculated Illinois donations to federal candidates and national political parties at more than $125 million during the two-year 2016 election cycle. The group ranked Illinois fourth nationally in contributions to Democrats at more than $66.8 million and seventh to Republicans, with more than $58.4 million — not including money given to super political action committees.
* After all the early voting, some actually waited for Election Day: Dowling, 43, lives in the Irving Park neighborhood and tried to vote early on Monday at the McFetridge sports complex, but the “line was insane.” Instead, he was in and out in under 10 minutes Tuesday morning at DePaul College Prep.
* McAuliffe, Marwig Face Off Over Chicago’s Only GOP-Held State House Seat: “My opponent … has spent millions of dollars of [Gov.] Bruce Rauner’s money to put out false ads against me,” Marwig said Monday night as she greeted voters outside Roden Library, 6083 N. Northwest Highway, on the last night of early voting. McAuliffe, shaking hands fewer than 10 steps away, has called Marwig’s accusations a “distraction from her ties to [Illinois Speaker of the House] Mike Madigan.”
* Analysis: Plenty at stake for Gov. Rauner on Election Night: “If they take down a number of Democratic seats and [Illinois Comptroller] Leslie Munger wins, I suppose the governor will feel emboldened,” Lang, D-Skokie, said. “But I don’t expect that’s going to happen, and therefore he’s going to be forced to deal with a very strong Democratic majority in both chambers and he’s going to have to determine whether he’s ready to govern or whether he wants to continue to play politics.”

Precinct 52/31 in Springfield at 11:20 am - 450th voter, no lines, would have been in and out in 10 minutes except that we talked to 4 different neighbors and jawboned for awhile.

Just got back from voting in my Washington County precinct. As of 11:15 I was 232 out of just under 500 registered voters. Eight booths, no wait, problems at the polls and very quick.

My wife went to the DuPage polling place at Lombard Pool at 6:05 AM. She said the line from the first table was across the room, down the hall and out the front door — but it moved quickly. I voted early at Yorktown Mall on October 24, twenty minutes after it opened on that first day. There was a good line at that time — but it moved quickly, too. There is a fairly even mix of Trump and Clinton yard signs here — in a very traditionally Republican town.

Took another look and saw only two campaign workers, no voters.
I’d like to digress briefly because there was a major story about Election Day turnout that was not picked up by the MSM, and that could have been devastating to Clinton–the Philadelphia transit strike.
The strike was settled at the 11th hour, early in the morning yesterday. Buses, trains and trolleys have full service today.

Pretty crowded at my Orland Township polling place but not a line out the door or anything. Nobody handing out material outside like normal, probably because not a lot of local contested races. Must be the enthusiasm to secede from Cook County! /s

As of noon 656 voted. No angry voters but one person asked if noncitizens could vote. We explained the process and eased her worries. Pantagraph reporter was here and said City of Bloomington had 25% turnout for Earrly Voting

Knocked on doors in the 99th for DelGiorno. 100+ doors half were home all but one said they voted for DelGiorno. People have lied to me before though.

I voted early, but Mrs. RIJ voted at 12:45 in Rock Island. She reports that there were no signs in the area, and no poll watchers. There were 20 people in line, and a poll worker commented to the line that they were lucky as this was the shortest line all day - it had been out the door. As Mrs. RIJ was leaving, she noted that the line had doubled. After giving her a long list of things to look for, I think she was kind of disappointed that it was voting as usual in our traditionally high turn-out precinct.

West central 81st at 1:05. No lines, but they said it had just slowed down. 10 voting booths all in continuous use. No one outside, no signs except for two David Olsen.

Voted with my youngest daughter (her first time) and was number 520, though I was told the actual number including early voting is twice that for our location. No line, but every booth occupied with people coming and going. Tougher restrictions on electioneering this year; they were pushed back to the street.

Around 11AM this morning, I was the 125th voter at my precinct (Nameoki 5) in Granite City, Illinois. Voted Straight D.

I’m part of a FB group that covers portions of the 1, 2, 32, 26 Wards and posts indicated that polls were jamming before work, like an hour wait time.
I went in about 10 AM and it was easy-breezy, no waiting. But, it seemed steady. It’s usually dead. This is not a heavy voter turn-out area.
Considering how horrid this cycle has been, it sure seems to have gotten people on the ball. They are involved and out voting—yea!!!

Half of people turned out to vote in my small town northeast of Springfield by 10AM. This is huge for us.

As quiet as can be at precinct 35 in Ward 39. Not an ideally situated polling place (a nursing home with an entrance not visible from the street).

After the election Rauner’s going to be forced to deal with a Democratic majority in both chambers that he has really ticked off with his smear ads.
