At issue is the way the bill factors CPS’ finances into what would become the new statewide funding formula. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel met with both Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton Monday as he continued his calls for Rauner to sign the legislation.
“My view is do what’s right,” Emanuel said Tuesday. “I know for a fact the old Bruce Rauner – before there was this coup in his office – supported, by saying he agrees with 90 percent of the funding in education, 90 percent of what’s in this bill,” he added.
First, his education czar, not the governor, said that. Second, she also said the governor would veto the bill anyway. This has nothing to do with his new staff.

It is silly for many of these people to point to the 90% constantly. If there are 20 items to discuss/negotiate and I agree to 18 of them, it doesn’t matter if the other 2 are significantly more important/crucial in my opinion.
These days, MLB players want opt out clauses. The player and his agent could agree to 98% in a contract, but nix the deal if there is no opt out clause.
Really, quit pointing to the 90% figure and telling Rauner what a win it is.

She pointed to it first.
Rahm is better than this. It’s either a severe slip or changing the narrative, “falsely”
It’s just as stinging if the direction is at Purvis. Heck, Purvis is suppose to be in the “know”, including Rauner’s own thinking on this, she’s the Education Secretary, a phony position, true, but… lol

I’m guessing by “the old Bruce Rauner” he’s referring to the guy he used to drink $1000 bottles wine with. Not this new Rauner.

First they borrow off Chance with “Do your Job”, now they want to raise money off this…
Do they lack “talent” so badly.., they can’t come up with their “own” ideas?

But if those two are significantly more important/crucial, then aren’t they really more than 10% of the agreement? I doubt Rauner/Purvis was talking about number of words or pages or something. They meant to convey that the vast majority of the bill is acceptable as-is.

It is waaaaaaaay too late for Purvis, Rauner, or his minions to try to walk back that quote.
This administration is in full-blown communications chaos.
They can’t agree on what they want.
They can’t agree on what to say about what they want.
They can’t agree on what they mean about what they say about what they want.

The pension money is a big issue or Cullerton would have released the bill after it passed. He and Madigan knew that it was going to be the sticking point of the bill when they passed it so that is why it hasn’t gone anywhere.
