* Press release…
Today, the Rauner Campaign launched a new digital ad titled “JB Pritzker, Champion of the Status Quo.”
Pritzker has made it clear throughout his campaign that he is unable and unwilling to stand up to Mike Madigan and his cronies like Joe Berrios. This ad highlights how Pritzker tossed aside middle class homeowners by refusing to criticize Madigan and Berrios’ property tax racket and how he stated he doesn’t support term limits that would have ended Madigan’s career years ago. No wonder fellow Democrats laughed at his claim that he’s “an independent.”
Pritzker is unwilling to stand up to the system, because he is just another cog in the Madigan Machine.

It’s a “B- / C+”
“Why?”
The continued attacking that Rauner has pushed, like he did with Quinn is helpful, but as an incumbent Rauner has a failed record and a :30 second ad doesn’t erase Rauner’s record, or give people reason to vote FOR Rauner.
It’s headlines, sound bites, some music, it’s a bit lazy. It’s a piling on laziness.
Anytime the Pritzker Crew would like to go after Rauner in Skyhook fashion, about “now” would be a real good idea.
Why am I not seeing ads on TV about the back porch “ethic lapse” and the $15 million dollar business deal?
It’s a head scratcher.
This ad is exactly why Rauner as a challenger won, but as an incumbent lacks reasons to re-elect him.
It’s a “B- / C+”… but where o where is the Pritzker Crew?
Asleep?

Not as good as most of the others, but still very solid. Making JB wear the collar for this many things offers enough to go around.

Sorry. 9:28 was me.

Berrios is such a dumb thing for Rauner to focus on. Outside of Cook County, no one knows who he is; inside of Cook County, the voters are either going to defeat him or embrace him on March 20. Either way, the issue dies.

The laugh line at the end is good. The rest is just white noise.

Another case of Rauner cutting clips to suit his needs. Especially in the debate clip, Pritzker’s full sentence was along the lines of, “I am not in favor of term limits, EXCEPT FOR LEGISLATIVE LEADERSHIP” That would include Madigan. Hence, throwing Rauner’s entire ad out the window. Political spin is normal, but cutting film in order to lie to the voters in Illinois is just plain wrong.

I thought I did see a JB ad that focused on Porchgate this morning. Either on WGN ir CNBC.
It was fairly effective on turning the tables on Rauner.
Maybe I just dreamt it.

The spectacle of a man with no character engaging in character assassination.

I know I shouldn’t complain about facts in political ads, but the clip they used of him saying no term limits 0was literally in the midst of a sentence calling for term limits for leaders and it was at the same time the text on screen said he won’t stand up to Madigan. I know. I know. Just ignore it.

Taking partial sound clips out of context is kind of the norm in political ads, which is why they need to be taken with a grain of salt. It also is an example of Rauner being able to use lots of money to launch a long range attack on political opponents. This race also illustrates why Pritzker is the only one who could likely beat Rauner, because Pritzker forces have enough money to launch effective counter-attacks against Rauner. Money vs money. It’s going to be a very good year for the TV stations.

Meh. Outside of Cook, Berrios is unknown or irrelevant and the Madigan schtick is getting old.

It’s not a bad ad. B-. For people who are questioning why Berrios is playing such a starring role in this and other 2018 gubernatorial primary ads, just remember that Cook County voters cast an awful lot of the total votes in any statewide election and Berrios’ name is pretty poison in these here parts. So any perceived association with him is a problem. Same concept as trying to tie Rauner to Trump.

B- grade. The one element of Rauner ads is that they are more consistent in maintaining a drum beat. This ad builds on the earlier messaging. Pritzker is all over the place by contrast when airing ads.

It’s a bit disjointed for me. But, I gave it a C instead of a D because it’s not a Madigan attack. The because Madigan lost any of it’s punch a long time ago. Now it’s just whiny.

It is nice that Rauner is helping Ive’s prepare to demolish JB in the general.
