* This escalated quickly…
Hey @DarrenBaileyIL! @GovPritzker has been in Springfield all week meeting & working with legislators in the Capitol. Probably hard for you to know that though when you are zooming into votes from helicopters while you campaign during session. Hope to see you soon! #twill pic.twitter.com/dvoiy1wRD0

And then…
Somebody might wanna read the state ethics act about prohibitions on campaign activity on state property/time https://t.co/cozL8FIZkx

McConchie: Governor must come out of hiding and veto politician-drawn map
“Once again, the politicians running Illinois reminded us all why we cannot trust anything they say or do,” said Illinois Senate Republican Leader Dan McConchie (R-Hawthorn Woods). “Today, less than 24 hours after it was introduced, the Senate Democratic Majority voted to pass a politician-drawn, gerrymandered legislative map.”
“This kind of backroom, power-at-all-costs dealing is exactly why the people of Illinois don’t – and shouldn’t – trust the Democratic Majority running our state government.
“As a candidate, Gov. Pritzker made a promise to the people of Illinois to veto any map like the one they passed today, that was drawn by politicians and their allies.
“We are in the final days of session and Gov. Pritzker hasn’t held a media availability since May 19.
“It is not too late for the governor to come out of hiding and keep his promise that he made to the people of Illinois.
“If he doesn’t, he will have broken the people’s trust once and for all.”
Pretty sure there was at least one leaders meeting this week.
I’ve asked the governor’s office for a response.
*** UPDATE *** Jordan Abudayyeh…
Gov. Pritzker has held more consecutive press conferences than any other Governor in Illinois history, and he will be available to answer questions from the press after he finishes critical negotiations—just as he has every other session.

Maybe McConchie was asleep during the leaders meeting?
To Bailey,
Twitter, and twitter time stamps, rarely ever help. #EthicsAct

Looks like I will again be voting against a candidate rather than voting for a candidate.
Comment by Blue Dog Friday, May 28, 21 @ 5:24 pm
I think it is Anne Caprara who should be warned she may have violated the Ethics Act. Did she leave state government? What a totally unprofessional response from the Chief of Staff for the Governor of our state.

The exact opposite of what Southern Belle posted.

Maybe the Republicans could put out substantive bills as a contrast to what the Democrats are filing and passing. That would provide some meaningful comparisons to show us all the ways in which their ideas are better (or not).
All we have now is a series of communications telling us that the Dems are doing it wrong (or “hiding things” which are mostly in plain sight) with no indication of what the correct way would be.
The one exception is that the response to COVID should have been to ignore it (no masks, no distancing, businesses and schools and everything else open as usual - except the LaSalle Veterans’ Home, where it should have been taken much more seriously).

“Did she leave state government?”
So it’s ok for Darren Bailey to lie, but not for the Governor’s chief of staff to respond factually that the governor has been meeting with legislators this week? Which he has according to several legislators I know. Umm, ok.
Comment by Chicago Cynic Friday, May 28, 21 @ 5:58 pm
Bailey seems like the type of person who would purposely not read the ethics rules, because in his mind he thinks it’s a loophole which will allow him to avoid accountability for having to follow them.
Comment by TheInvisibleMan Friday, May 28, 21 @ 5:59 pm
Bailey & McConchie should be ashamed. Of course, we already know Bailey has no shame. This is just stupid.

As a Chicago resident I really was touched by Darren’s comment he wouldn’t file a resolution to separate the rest of the stare from Cook County anymore. That he wants to restore my city to its former greatness or whatever it was he said.
Actually, Senator, I was urging my rep to cosponsor your resolution. That way we could keep more of our hard earned tax dollars and it wouldn’t be used to subsidize areas like yours any longer.

Better slow down there Governor. I mean one leaders meeting this week. Better not overdo it.

=== … should be warned she may have violated the Ethics Act. ===
Someone was voting while campaigning for office. The other is debunking a partisan lie. Seems to me that Anne has nothing to worry about.
Lies from Bailey are the norm. McConchie Is trying to be too cute by half with his rhetoric.

I actually want to email baileys info address and say I saw pritzker at the rural king getting a vest and some cowboy boots for a debate moderated by “miss Illinois county fair queen”

Bailey was literally in a helicopter for a campaign event when he was voting. Caprara responded to lies on Twitter. I really doubt she violated anything, and if she did it’s a miniscule infraction compared to Bailey’s.

Senators chasing a governor is standard.
I’d be more worried if any governor kept after a leader of a caucus.
We had that for 4 years. Illinois suffered. He moved to Florida.
This is the normal we missed.
To maps, budgets, this session, let these two chase him. The governor is in the big chair, they are not.

Yeah, republicans, having absolutely no say in anything really stinks. At least you have class… oh… never mind.
Comment by Ducky LaMoore Friday, May 28, 21 @ 7:05 pm
McConchie sounds desperate and Bailey sounds like, well, Darren Bailey. This can’t be the best the ILGOP has to offer. If it is I’m not particularly hopeful.
Comment by Pundent Friday, May 28, 21 @ 7:15 pm
As my Grandpa would have said, Bailey is one of a kind, thank God….

I guess we’ll just assume that Bailey is campaigning during senate time and that it’s not one of his campaign staffers. Quick to rush to judgement on this site on a partisan basis.
Comment by Not a DJT Apologist Friday, May 28, 21 @ 8:02 pm
Sounds like Bailey and McConchie want to meet with the Governor. If so, this is a strange way of requesting a meeting, by hurling insults and lies. Then they wonder why the Governor doesn’t return their calls. Typical BS.
Leader McConchie should just say thank you to whoever it was that decided to keep Casey Urlacher in a separate district. Gratitude sure looks different today than when I was brought up.
Now it’s all about making outrageous noise to keep your profile up. That’s a twisted incentive that some in the media are giving us. Be better. When these guys have nothing to say, you’re not obligated to quote them.

So he’s campaigning because he puts out a tweet with a logo that says he’s running for Governor and it’s in his Twitter handle? The guys a clod, but wow is that nitpicking.
