I hadn’t heard this one before. (Via The So-Called Austin Mayor)
They’ve got a house in rural Texas and a nice home-office setup on Pennsylvania Avenue. But for tax purposes, President Bush and his wife, Laura, claim a Chicago post office box as their “home address.”On the 1040 they signed, which the White House released last week, the listed home address is “Northern Trust Co., P.O. Box 803968, Chicago, IL 60680.”
White House spokeswoman Erin Healy said Tuesday that’s because Northern Trust handles the blind trust the couple uses for their holdings since Bush took office.
So, does this mean that the president is supposed to pay Illinois state taxes?

Not according to Governor Blagojevich. He hates income taxes.
Unfortunately, it does mean that you will have to make room for a presidential library in Downtown Chicago, preferably something with a lake view. What’s Miegs these days?

No, he doesn’t pay IL taxes, he’s a Texas citizen. And we don’t believe in State Income Tax.
And the Library will be at SMU, right here in Dallas.

If Illinois is his official taxpaying residence, then I think he should pay Illinois taxes.

the library in Dallas? Somehow I think that Houston, where he met Laura as I recall, will have some claim to the W memorial. Even Midland/Odessa has a better chance than Big D.

If he lives in IL., then he voted in IL., right? If not, did he vote illegally in Crawford? If so, did he loose his own state?
Can’t figure this one out myself….
