3. The arrest, indictment and impeachment of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich made Illinois’ reputation a national punch line. Do you believe Illinois’ reputation has improved since Blagojevich’s ouster? Explain.
Quinn: Like everyone else in Illinois, I have had to spend the past year listening to talk show hosts and late-night comics making jokes about our state and the people who have led us. But there is nothing remotely funny about a government, at any level, that has lost sight of its true responsibilities.
As governor, I have worked hard to restore people’s faith in their state government, and to prove that Illinois is not the Land of Larceny, the Land of Political Opportunism and Corruption. We have passed, and I have signed, a long list of new laws that are bringing true reform to Illinois government.
I know that there is more that we can do to reform our state government. But I think we have shown that, with integrity and honest hard work, we are repairing our reputation and proving to the world, and ourselves, that this is still the Land of Lincoln.

Where did John Sununu come from, anyway? Is he some attractive surrogate out on the campaign trail?
Last I remember of that guy was 1991, when he got fired for using the Air Force like a private limo service.

Sorry Rich, I agree that the speech shouldn’t be bumped, but asking anyone for fairness at this point? Futile! Besides they are only doing Obama’s speech to tear it apart. By not broadcasting Romeny, they get to interpret what he said, rather than let the viewers see how he says it. Besides, who wants to see “Lurch” deliver a speech…painful!
