  1. There are a lot of worthy nominees, but I’m going to pick Link’s anti-smoking bill. I’m no longer a smoker, but this is really extreme.

  2. SB 1 The bill just approved yesterday.

  4. I agree–Link’s no smoking on colleges. Really?

  5. SB 1614….lol

Comment by Oswego Willy Friday, May 3, 13 @ 1:59 pm

  6. Speaker Madigan’s SB 1…Is a Political response to a political situation rather than a rational fiscal response to a fiscal problem. “We just won’t pay for the agreements we have made”…With that philosophy every bond house should down grade us rather than be releived.

  7. Sorry…relieved not releived

  9. Type in to the URL www.ilga.gov;

    Click on “House Members”;

    Scroll down to the “F’s”

    Click on “Jack Franks”

    then click “Bills where Jack Franks is the Primary Sponsor”;

    …take your pick

  10. passed or just proposed?

The internet comment one if it is just proposed.

Comment by OneMan Friday, May 3, 13 @ 2:13 pm

  11. It’s not the focus of the bill, but allowing conceal-carry on the CTA is just a breathtakingly bad idea.

Comment by wordslinger Friday, May 3, 13 @ 2:14 pm

  12. SB 1

Comment by truthteller Friday, May 3, 13 @ 2:18 pm

  13. SB 1

The college anti-smoking bill was silly, yes, but I don’t expect it to be enforced any better than the alcohol ban on my “dry” campus all those years ago.

Comment by titan Friday, May 3, 13 @ 2:18 pm

  14. Is there anyone citing SB 1 who is NOT a government worker or spouse of a gov’t worker?

    I thought not.

  15. SB 1

  16. Kotowski’s PUPPY BILL. Seems like he would have better things to do!

Comment by TrackerOne Friday, May 3, 13 @ 2:23 pm

  17. Abe FTW!

Comment by Empty Chair Friday, May 3, 13 @ 2:28 pm

  18. SB 1912, Kwame’s bill regulating settlements, releases and how quickly plaintiff’s get settlement drafts.

It addresses a problem that is being handled reasonably by judges. It ignores the reality that at times things are delayed for reasons outside the control of defendant and/or insurers.

There is simply no reason to add additional regulation. Judges can do the job without this proposal.

It amounts to nothing but Kwame pandering to ITLA. It is the Illinois Senate at its worst.

Comment by Skeeter Friday, May 3, 13 @ 2:30 pm

  19. No hand held cell phones while driving. Might as well ban eating, drinking, and one armed people driving at the same time!

Comment by Jaded Friday, May 3, 13 @ 2:31 pm

  20. Lion Meat

  21. Was road kill this GA or the last?

Comment by Cincinnatus Friday, May 3, 13 @ 2:34 pm

  22. State Senator Harmon’s bill to allow non-physicians to prescribe drugs bothers me.

Comment by Esquire Friday, May 3, 13 @ 2:37 pm

  23. “It’s not the focus of the bill, but allowing conceal-carry on the CTA is just a breathtakingly bad idea.”

As a daily Red Line passenger, this makes me extremely uneasy. Is the stadium-ban going to be a part of the final bill, because a ride on that on a Cubs game day is already trouble enough as it is.

Comment by Served Friday, May 3, 13 @ 2:42 pm

  24. Labor’s pension reform bill. Oh wait, they don’t have one.

Comment by phocion Friday, May 3, 13 @ 2:43 pm

  25. Actually - I am a government “pensioneer” and believe SB1 is well written for its purpose. It sets up the problem adn the solution. Just don’t like what it does to me….

I’m in agreement on the “Franks” comment. It seems so much of what he sponsors or authors is legislation that is based on bumper stickers or headlines.

Comment by archimedes Friday, May 3, 13 @ 2:46 pm

  26. Any ComEd bill

Comment by foster brooks Friday, May 3, 13 @ 3:02 pm

  27. SB 1 It is a response to a problem but it is not a fix. The State finacial mess goes beyond medicare and pensions. See Ralph Martire’s work for a solution…Whether you are an employee of government or not does not change the realities discussed by Martire.

Comment by pension fix Friday, May 3, 13 @ 3:17 pm

  28. SB 1 - it takes from those that are already retired, it is one thing to take from future and current employees, but to take from the retired, who cannot backtrack to their former positions is unconsciouable.

Comment by Riverside Friday, May 3, 13 @ 3:19 pm

  29. Arroyo’s lion meat bill

Comment by Get 'Er Dunne Friday, May 3, 13 @ 3:28 pm

  30. Gotta go with lion meat.

Comment by Deep South Friday, May 3, 13 @ 3:43 pm

  31. Close call, but Lion Meat.

Comment by Arthur Andersen Friday, May 3, 13 @ 3:47 pm

  32. Does the Lion-Meat bill ban lion meat, or are we buying it for someone?

    I missed that one.
