Neil diamond is a very talented guy, incredibly likable (in person) and has a terrific ballot name but let’s face it HE WILL NEVER GET ELECTED COMPTROLLER!!!!

Robbie Robertson produced Diamond’s 1976 LP Beautiful Noise. I have to agree that Diamond will not be elected Comptroller though.

Mock all you want, but Neil Diamond puts on one of the best live performances you will ever see.
In the early 80s we took a family vacation to Colorado: three weeks in a Ford van with only a handful of 8-tracks. I am glad Neil Diamond made the list.

Was listening to The Last Waltz on the drive into work and this came on. Neil Diamond might not be a good comptroller candidate but he could put on one good inaugural concert

I second YDD’s emotion: Neil Diamond live is not to be missed.
For a taste of that, I highly recommend the live version of “Holly Holy” on his “12 Greatest Hits” collection. It might’ve come from the “Hot August Night” album, which once graced my own 8-track collection.

Neil Diamond’s catalog; It speaks for itself.
Neil Diamond is multi-generational in a class in that realm like Tony Bennett.
And his live shows, when you have the catalog of music and the enthusiasm he has, and how he works his audience, he is a performer, and in a that means.

Brilliant songwriter? Absolutely. Fabulous live shows? No doubt. Is he on my bucket list of performers I have yet to see? You bet. Can he sing? Not worth sour horse manure. He has zero range, which helps account for his popularity among the karaoke crowd. Just about anyone can sing a Neil Diamond song and make it sound good, or, at least as good as the original sounds.
