U.S. Rep. Mike Bost, a Republican from Murphysboro, issued a statement that he was “disappointed” in the ruling.
“If that (marriage) definition were to change in the eyes of the law, it should be our citizens making the decision at the state level, not nine unelected justices in Washington, D.C.,” Bost said.
Um, Mike, our citizens here in Illinois did make that decision on the state level. Do you really want to deny your own constituents the same rights they get here when they work in, travel to or move to another state?

I’m sure Bost was outraged by the Heller and McDonald decisions, too, those nine unelected elitist robes forcing the good people of Illinois to change their long-established law passed by their elected representatives.
There’s nothing more dreary than a politician phoning it in.

It’s possible he thought it meant the “NOH8″ campaign was censoring the girl…a little like the anti-bullying backlash.
But if you like that, check out Eric Hansen’s Facebook page (Springfield minister). Talk about not clear on the concept…

Apparently, nobody drew his neighbor’s dog with a bullet in it or him as Moses leading all the old white people out of little Egypt, or one of those would have been the winner.

For those of us who were unfortunate enough to be represented by Mike Bost in the GA and then seeing him elected to represent in DC I am not surprised by this posting. Fairly typical of his response - which was to be expected.
He is clueless - and Honeybear he does have an announced opponent!

Dear Mike:
Here is one difference. When judges allowed same-gender marriage no one died. When judges rewrote the Second Amendment to include a right of self-defense (that is no where in the language or the history) people die every day.

@HL, a little off topic, but are you suggesting that one shouldn’t be allowed to use a firearm for self defense?
I think deadly force has always been allowed for self defense, firearms or not.

To be fair, Mike’s constituents did not want this. Most of this push was from Chicago and is a sign of the divided state.
Is anyone ripping Chicago legislators for continuing to oppose conceal and carry asserting their constituents wanted it and the the courts mandated it?

I’d even go so far as to question what the majority of his constituents want. The poll numbers are going up rapidly, and even Republicans, which do not make the entirety of his constituency, are above one-third supporting now. I’d lean toward them still not supporting it, but it’s probably closer than you’d think.
