Define “savvy”

Posted in:

* Andy Shaw

Greg Goldner, one of Illinois’ savviest political consultants, drafted a comprehensive budget plan months ago that included detailed spending cuts, revenue increases and pro-business reforms — the long-cited keys to a “grand bargain,” as some call a final agreement— but it’s been on a shelf gathering dust since then

  1. Unless it can get 60 and 30 and significant weight to reach… 60 and 30… It’s worth just about the paper it’s printed on.

    Just about.

Oswego Willy believes Andy Shaw lines to insert himself to raise money and Oswego Willy knows Andy Shaw likes the voice and opinion of Andy Shaw and Oswego Willy knows Andy Shaw’s voice and opinion come are always more important to Andy Shaw than what Andy Shaw might be touting, including “savvy” people.

    Oswego Willy knows that.

  2. Meh, this is the same guy who thinks income is supposed to somehow be considered as a part of property tax valueation, so I don’t put much stock in this guy anymore. All he cares about is headlines.

  3. But, Greg Goldner, IS NOT one of Illinois’ savviest political consultants

  4. Seriously, has Rauner outsourced budgeting to Goldner? Cheese and rice!

  6. He may not be one of the ==savviest==.

Still, that is more than many have done in an effort to help end this impasse - including some entire committees.

LOL - he’s had SO MUCH success, espcially since making his “savvy” decision to jump in bed with Rauner.

  10. I am convinced that nothing will happen until either 1) Labor is destroyed upfront. or 2) Labor is destroyed in a minute with Dem complicity. 3) a true supermajority is obtained in Nov and then nothing will happen till Jan 2017

  11. Honeybear + 1…especially the point about January 2017.
As Oswego Willy has taught us, vote accordingly.

  12. “Savvy” must mean lighting piles of money on fire.

  13. IMHO Shaw’s article is simply pointing out that because 90% of program’s costs are being funded, there is no urgency to pass a budget. Sure, our hearts go out to those losing jobs and services, but most of those people have alternative job & treatment options. The main point of the article was lost with the Goldner comment.

Really? Where? Are you saying there’s a conspiracy that people are ignoring options that exist?

Please, email Emily Miller these other options….

As for people losing their jobs, purposely by Rauner’s choices, you and Ron Sandack must be frustrated… but pleased?

  15. ===Sure, our hearts go out to those losing jobs and services, but most of those people have alternative job & treatment options.===

So why does your heart go out to them if they have alternatives?

And please show your work. Because on the surface, that appears to be a ridiculous statement.

  16. Savvy, adj. Able to get Andy Shaw to carry your water.
