* Gov. Bruce Rauner was asked yesterday about state Sen. Daniel Biss’ new TV ad tying him to Donald Trump…
At an event to promote cutting government red tape Monday, Rauner says he hasn’t seen the latest political attack against him.
“This is the silly season. I don’t pay any attention, I’m focused on Illinois,” He said.
New TV ads supported by some of the state’s richest Democrats, links Rauner directly with Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump.

I wonder why Roskam fills his depends everytime Trump’s name comes up. It’s not like he is in a swing district eith a well funded opponent.
Does Trump sell that badly in the Western Suburbs (at least those suburbs deemed Republican leaning enough to not be included in the 8th or the 11th and lobbed into a GOP vote dump district)

The cartoon commercial is a waste of money in my opinion. The restaurant one is better but they are both a little too cutesie for my taste. Where are the wheelchairs and autistic kids and rape victims? Where are the hungry senior citizens? What a pathetic and lame accusation to say that Rauner and his buddies refused to pay their fair share - was there a vote brought up on the Millionaire tax during the last session? If so, I missed it.

Silly Season? When is workin’ and solvin’ season? Is it before or after blamin’ season? When is the harvest? Your work clothes are so clean.
Would these seasons be redacted if I foiad your calendar?
The ads are good and based on what I saw in Cleveland the animated GOP dancing was created using sophisticated motion capture technology. So lifelike it’s scary.
Does Roskam’s speedo go over or under his depends? When does that commercial come out?

Silly season?
Give me a break. His public persona is that everybody other than him is a child, too dumb to understand the complexities of hard stuff like budgets and political campaigns.
His private persona is that he’s as bad — or worse — than Madigan when it comes to pulling the strings.
He’s exactly like Trump: he thinks everybody else is a moron — except him.

The Trump, anti-Trump division is strong. We have to be careful not to break friendships. The Trump supporters feel besieged and betrayed.
Rebuilding the Republican party will be hard. Particularly when 2018 will have Rauner in control of the Republican party apparatus. I defer to OW on Republican vs. Raunerite.

But for some reason, Pete didn’t name any Democratic elected officials who’ve dis-re-un-endorsed their presidential nominee.

I really think that first ad is silly and annoying. It’s getting played every website I open. It even interrupted an episode of Elmo’s World I was watching with my daughter on youtube. And it really doesn’t even make sense.

I saw the most upsetting ad this a.m. It was the Hershey’s kisses ad where they are like bells and play “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” On WGN, on October 18th. More horrifying than the worst attack ad.

Have yet to see the plan, hopefully they let the voters in on this secret plan before the election.
They are correct about continuing President Obama’s priorities- Expanding the size and scope of state government and unbalanced budgets that go along with that.

In case you’re wondering what happened to Baghdad Bob….
Trump is doing so well in the suburbs that Republican office-holders there won’t even say his name, they’re in such awe of his doing-wellness.
Simon Institute poll, Oct 4, Suburban Cook and Collar Counties: Clinton 56%, Trump 25%.
Give that a think: a GOP presidential nominee, polling 25% in the suburbs.
That’s akin to an ACT score you’d get just filling in the dots at random.

But there’s so much good material out there…the nursing homes, the bullying (I will bankrupt her with legal fees. I don’t know if she has a family or not, but if she does, she better think twice about this.) Where’s the full-length movie?

Lots of preaching to the choir in these ads. Agree wholeheartedly with those who note that these two ads are about Biss’ future run for governor rather than useful at all in shaping voter behavior this current election. Cartoon is awful. The diner scene is better thought out and kind of clever but is very busy and requires careful and attentive viewing to get the full idea of what is going on. I don’t think people are paring attention to political ads much at all right now. Super PAC must have money burning a hole in its pocket. In my opinion Dan Biss would have been smarter to leave Trump out of it and save these ads for after the election when he could focus directly on Rauner.

FINALLY. Been waiting for Dems to get out the counter narrative to the seemingly incessant propaganda from the Rauner machine.
1st ad: like it. Why? It’s true. Seems some people don’t get it…Rauner is shaking us down from his and his buddies’ benefits. FACT: Longer the state delays paying bills, the higher the amount of late payment interest required. FACT: And, then there are the bond issuances which require higher interest payments each time our state’s credit rating falls. Who benefits from higher interest rates and late payment penalties? FACT: Bankers, investors, venture capitalists. I wonder who has friends in those professions! Definitely not the average Illinoisan like me who will get stuck footing the bill for it. Seems the visual of shaking out money is apropos.
Ad 2) perfect metaphor. Unveils the Rauner plan: take the food out of regular people’s mouths, including children. Creates short- and long-term pain without any promise of gain for IL’s future.

Hard to rate these ads. There’s a lot of satire which the base will absolutely bite on. Cartoons have to be more sophisticated in my view, to work in this situation. This one doesn’t reach that level. The second one is Skit-ish in a different way. Maybe the people who find these the funniest, aren’t old enough to vote yet. Just a degree or two too cute. Political ads already cause you to punch the remote after a few seconds. These aren’t exceptions.

They’re fine - well done and reasonable messages. But I liked the first ad’s message better, really tying Trump to Rauner with the “I will support the Republican nominee” line.
They should re-do that ad with better production values, the ‘grab her by the…’ line, and a strong call to action to support Dems in order to defeat their fear and mongering.

It’s fun seeing Rauner dance. McCain declares four more years of inaction on the Supreme Court nominees if Hilary wins. More missed opportunities nationally, state wide and locally by refusing to moderate their entrenched opposition. Instead of being the party of reason and inclusion, they strive to pitch doom, gloom and blame. Let’s see what the next three weeks brings.
