  1. I know it’s not here, but there are several counties in FL that are doing LIVE updates to their ballots cast. That’s kind of cool. Wish we had that here.

    Comment by Tom B. Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 3:06 pm

  2. Dupage is smooth. Turnout this morning was steady and we expect a big rush after school/work. Could not ask for nicer weather these last two weeks.

Comment by PanDroft Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 3:09 pm

  3. Just saw multiple volunteers walking the street with clipboards and lists, trying to make sure the registered voters all get out and vote. First time in memory I’ve seen that level of GOTV.

Comment by RNUG Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 3:10 pm

  4. Hispanics nationally are voting in huge numbers. I assume that this is the trend in IL as well?

Comment by Stones Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 3:13 pm

  5. We voted just after 2:30 at a polling place at 2nd & Toronto Road on Springfield’s far south side. I dropped in ballot 1,355 (total of 2 counters). There are 3 city precincts and 1 Woodside Township precinct voting there. 23 had registered on site to vote, although one of those workers said it had been mostly people who had moved. Another worker said voting had been steady all day. We had no wait in getting our ballot or voting in one of the more than 20 voting booths. A rough estimate by a worker was that over 61% had voted by then.

  6. Behind the Scenes apparently voted in the same place I did. I voted at about 1:30. Was told that as of 1 o’clock 54 percent of my precinct had voted, including early votes.

  7. How likely are we headed to a record, or near-record, voter turnout?

Comment by Diogenes in DuPage Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 3:27 pm

  8. Kate Cloonen has been electioneering inside several polling places.

Comment by Chairman McBroom Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 3:46 pm

  9. Not official, but from news accounts and looking at the last canvass for total registered voters it appears 18% of Madison County early voted.

Comment by Highland IL Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 3:46 pm

  10. AA votes at the KC West where about 5 precincts are consolidated. At 3:15 pm I was #1523 through one of the two tabulators. The county clerk guys standing around expect 50% or more out of that complex. Good turnout, but we’ve been higher.

Comment by Arthur Andersen Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 3:49 pm

  11. Large turnout all over the Cullerton senate race. Early voting lines last night were large and very diverse ethnically. Winger going down could be the big surprise there.

Comment by Signal and Noise Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 3:52 pm

  12. Voted in Geneva, Kane County. Had to wait in line at 2:30 and parking lot pretty full. NEVER have had to wait in line before. Judge said very busy all day with a line waaitng in morning to open up. Something is going on.

Comment by DuPage Saint Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 3:54 pm

  13. Three precinct captains idling away the time outside of a polling place in the 40th Ward, but not a voter to be seen. Maybe there will be a rush in the evening.

Comment by Dead Calm Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 4:04 pm

  14. Anecdotal, but canvassed in a Latino neighborhood, and getting people motivated to vote has never been easier. I mentioned “Trump” and a woman literally left to go vote that second.

Comment by WSJ Paywall Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 4:05 pm

  15. Highland- I think you’re totally right about Madison County. I felt like a real slacker because I am one of the few people in my cohort to vote on Election day. Most all of my friends voted early.

Comment by Honeybear Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 4:30 pm

  16. Off to vote in Oak Park now. Will arrive at polling station in t-minus 45 minutes.

Comment by AlfondoGonz Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 4:32 pm

  17. RNUG- totally right on the GOTV. 8:00 am this morning, knock knock knock on my door. Little old lady who seemed to be powered by a nuclear reactor checked on me to see if I had voted. Then literally, I swear RAN back to her car, and sped down the street. I stood in my doorway wondering what just happened.

Comment by Honeybear Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 4:33 pm

  18. I was #1,031 for 4 combined precincts in North Litchfield.

    Comment by historic66 Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 4:55 pm

  19. 61% also on West side of Springpatch at 3 PM

Comment by Joe Schmoe Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 5:01 pm

  20. I was the 880th voter in a small Marshall County town of about 2200 people total. Judge said it was the largest turn out in the 20 years she’s been a judge. She thinks we will easily top 1,000 voters.

It is even more amazing in that there are no local races at all, Nada. Weaver and Spain are uncontested, as are all the county races.

    Comment by G'Kar Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 5:16 pm

  21. Springfield Bible Church in the Westchester subdivision, no lines. Walked in about 4:15, voted and was out in about 5 minutes. Didn’t get numbers but was told “very busy day.”

Comment by Finally Out (and now very glad to be) Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 5:19 pm

  22. Yes, RNUG, first time I have volunteered. Absolutely amazing Labor turnout. Saw a gentleman yesterday with a Trump sign. I said hello as he passed by. Out of nowhere he says I am just doing my job, I am not voting for him. Point being, apparently, Labor isn’t the only ones GOTV.

    labor i’the l one.

Comment by Present Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 5:27 pm

  23. We reached over 1,000 voters by 4:00 at our location in north Normal. Expectation was 1,500 would vote this time. Anxious to see the numbers from Early Voting.

Comment by Nearly Normal Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 6:02 pm

  24. Just voted in Hanover 25- cook county. They were asking for drivers licenses. When I asked why they said the law changed last year and the bought DL readers. Now that the law was overturned, they still have the readers and said it was easier to find people if they gave their license. After asking about it I was told it was optional to provide it. There was a line, which was nice to see for a change!

Comment by The KQ Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 6:06 pm

  25. Over 360 votes out of 485 registered in my precinct as of 5:30. And cars were coming to the parking lot as I was leaving.

Could be Huge but not certain how this will translate into votes one way or another in my very Republican area.
