    @Super70sSports

    Comment by lake county democrat Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:29 pm

  9. Chicago Party Aunt for its wickedly funny, politically incorrect commentary on the local scene, from the viewpoint of the kind of lady most of us probably know at least one of.

    She had me at “I’m a snorting coke at Ravinia kinda babe.”

    Radical Candor IL hits pretty good, too, when they’re active.

    Comment by wordslinger Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:30 pm

  10. And, as others have noted, Chicago Party Aunt & Chicago Bars, along with Chicago Reader. And OF COURSE Capitol Fax!

    Comment by Galena Guy Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:31 pm

  11. @ChicagoBars is one you should check out. Active, and whimsical, while also being really informative.

    Reporter twitters, not Papers or tv station twitters are good to check out. The outlets aren’t as detailed as reporters.

    Comment by Oswego Willy Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:34 pm

  12. Oops, premature sendalation (it happens).

    MisterJayEM is tops. I’m convinced twitter expanded to 280 just so some could try to communicate what MisterJayEm does in 140.

    Comment by wordslinger Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:37 pm

  13. Adrienne Alexander for her helpful threads about a wide array of political and social topics.

    Amanda Kass for the best insights on government finance.

    Comment by LakeviewJ Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:43 pm

  14. I don’t use Twitter, so I don’t know. But….damn that’s a funny post. Thanks, Rich, for the mid-week chuckle.

    Comment by Anonymous Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 2:01 pm

  20. @anacaprana - the Anne Caprara twitter is still comedy gold.

    It only gets better with the Eagles playing. Good mix of politics and other, well balanced snarky fun.

    Comment by Oswego Willy Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 2:10 pm

  21. Cry For Byzantium, the history of the Byzantine Empire in tweets from 280 - 1453.

  22. @ChicagoBars for sure. @RadicalCandorIL too. And @MerriamWebster.

    The Illinois staff @ProPublicaIL is great.

    @ArchPundit is excellent.

    @NateSilver538 for polling.

    @darth for puppy pics and humor.

    @PopeHat for legal analysis, snarky and informed.

    Lots of reporters, bands, and venues. I won’t bore you with those unless you ask.

    Comment by Cheswick Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 3:44 pm

  27. Tina Sfondeles’ “Men Following Construction Projects” series is pretty lit.

    @hannahmeisel for the day to day state stuff
    @ILElectionData to follow the money & know the numbers
    @JohnAmdor for his throwback floor transcripts
    @bylaurenfitz on CPS
    @thedailylinechi for deets on City/County stuff

    Comment by DriXander Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 7:12 pm

  32. And @IllinoisWorking ’cause nothing Rauner-related gets by him.

    Comment by DriXander Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 7:16 pm

  33. Unfortunately, @CWBChicago is required reading. Always good to know about crime in the area.

    @DaveClarkin tends to be pretty good. Dave has always had an interesting way of phrasing his opinions.

    @retrievans is bizarre and entertaining. It is a series of photos with a Golden Retriever in the same pose as actor Chris Evans.

    @atlasobscura has some really interesting geography and travel pieces.

    @captandrewluck has the Colts QB writing as if he was in the Civil War. Very entertaining.

    Finally, @SueTheTRex is the official twitter of Sue, from the Field Museum. It is a very funny take on dinosaurs. The “war” with the Shedd was classic.

    Comment by Gooner Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 8:56 pm

  34. By the way, I may the only one here who can’t stand @ChicagoPartyAunt. I find it grating, and unoriginal. I’ve unfollowed a few who constantly re-tweet her stuff.
