* As we discussed last week, the Illinois Policy Institute is having a rally today and participants are eligible for $40 gift cards. According to a participant (who is actually on the other side) turnout is a bit light…
* There are free t-shirts…
* But they’re made in Bangladesh…
* The Bangladeshi-t-shirt-wearing mini crowd will descend on the Statehouse today to lobby these Republican legislators to ask them to vote against the AFSCME “no strike” bill…

I am guessing participation might be light due to the fact that most of the people that would support IPI probably have a job to be at.
And yes I know employed people will be marching at the state capitol tomorrow, in much greater numbers. But im sure their tummys are gonna be mighty hungry when they use their lunch break to protest the insane Rauner.

Perhaps the turnout is “a bit light” because the fed up taxpayers cannot afford to take a day off from work to march through downtown Springfield. Compare that with what we’ll see tomorrow.

Make it look bigger than it is, empty chairs never work
Spinning poor turnout never sounds.. smart.
Engaged people show up, “$40″ or not
Labor rallies and insinuating those rallies are people not “working”… that’s about 1/2 step from “get off my lawn”

The governor’s office responded the t-shirts are made in Bangladesh Illinois it is located in the mountains that were featured in our governors first campaign literature.

How about a t-shirt for the GOP GA members with a picture of a $20,000,000 bill with Rauner’s face on it, with the same tagline.
That’s the difference between the 2 sides. One side puts out t-shirts like this and hires a clown to dress up as Quinnochio.

McCann showed what happena whe. you support local workers and schools and the opposition has more money. Dunkin showed it as well. Vote yourself out of office if you like, but the people support it

That doesn’t even make sense. The reverse would be: “unengaged people” whose interests are not represented will take the day off and show up at the rally tomorrow.

Hang on! I think the State of Illinois owes me a lot of money from all those taxes I paid it during the years I was also a state employee! I can’t understand why my accountant didn’t catch that!
I think the image on the t-shirt is explained by the fact that cartoonists in Bangladesh have no idea who Madigan is, much less what he looks like.

good for the IPI, using the free market to procure the lowest cost goods. The state budgeteers could take a lesson from this example. The shirts were more than likely bought from a local Illinois vendor that printed and delivered them but of course no mention of that.

For everyone confused by the t-shirt logo, it is a parody of Shepard Fairey’s “OBEY” design (featuring Andre the Giant’s face). Fairey is arguably more famous for his Obama “HOPE” design though.
So, to cut through all the political trash, they’re saying that Madigan is as cool as Andre the Giant, right?

If state workers are over paid then so are the politically connected that get those administration and management jobs. That picture of Madigan looks like the Grinch that stole Christmas. The IPI has a lot of nerve using a Madigan image that looks like a “red scare” poster when you could easily swap Rauners picture with the same message.

I keep hearing all this about the VA being bad, it used to be but now it is really good at least the specialty clinics are… I do not much care for the general MD clinic and usually fall back on my tricare… but for Neurology, Cardiology, and Ortho they are great in my books in St Louis.

The lobbying has already begun. Just received a robocall from an unidentified caller in the 630 area code blasting AFSCME and wanting to connect me to my Rep and urging me to encourage him to oppose their position.
Should be interesting to see how he eventually does vote. My representative is a Republican who has received a substantial contribution from a Teachers Union, has accepted money from the BVR slush fund as well as Bob Romanik. Yet the vast majority of AFSCME members probably supported him because of his opposition to closing Murray Center.
Interesting dynamics here - unfortunately he is running for re-election and is running unopposed. Yet he was one of those identified on their list.
