“Challenges met”

Monday, Jan 14, 2019 - Posted by Rich Miller

* Gov. Bruce Rauner spent much of the weekend tweeting about the “challenges met” over the past four years. Radical Candor countered with the “real” challenges met. A sampling..

Oof.

* Is today the end of the legendary account?…

He or she may leave us, or have already left but the memory remains.

  2. - Iggy - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 8:42 am:

At this point Radical Candor is just sad. Move on with your life lol.

  3. - Honeybear - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 8:42 am:

Challenges Met: Increasing the production of paper towels used to clean computer screens after laugh spraying coffee onto monitors.

  4. - Generic Drone - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 8:43 am:

Challenges met. Create a crisis that will take a decade to reverse.

  5. - wordslinger - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 8:46 am:

Radical Candor had quite the productive weekend.

Their Rauner official portrait contest was quite a tough call, but I don’t think you can go wrong with “dumpster fire.”

I hope they stick around. Lot of hilarious material emerges every day from the Proft/Katrina/Kass/IPI clown car.

  6. - Montrose - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 8:47 am:

I am more than ready to move beyond Rauner and hashing out how bad of a governor he was. I think Radical Candor closing up shop makes a lot of sense. May the inauguration signal the end of it.

  7. - Grandson of Man - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 8:47 am:

Radical Candor is so funny and gets the last laugh. As sad as it would be to see the end of that account, Radical Candor most definitely fulfilled his/her purpose.

  8. - Anonymous - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 8:48 am:

Challenges met: Turn around the Turnaround Agenda.

  9. - Anonymous - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 8:55 am:

I was cracking up last night reading this. Glad you put it up Rich. Alone they were all pretty good one long thread and it’s good stuff. Well played RC well played.

  10. - Huh? - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 8:56 am:

Challenges met. Democratic candidate won governorship.

  11. - Anonymous - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 8:57 am:

Not surprising but I scrolled through Rauner’s list and got a kick out of the things he was taking credit for, many that either happened in spite of him or that he had no hand in whatsoever.

  12. - Huh? - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 8:58 am:

Challenges met. Speaker Madigan even more firmly seated in power.

  13. - Flynn's Mom - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 8:58 am:

Challenges met: Many new pins for my vest and lots of free beer along the way.

  14. - unspun - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 9:02 am:

Governor Rauner succeeded at failing, preserving his boast of being successful at everything that he’s done.

  15. - Norseman - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 9:19 am:

Rauner accomplishment demonstrated here is that this serves as an example for future executives. Don’t hire staff for their ability to attack opponents and then fire them. It comes back to bite you on the proverbial ….

It’s time to say goodbye to Radical Candor and, let us not forget, the Rauner Chicken. They served us well in providing a little humor during the dark years of Rauner.

  16. - Keyrock - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 9:22 am:

Well, as one twitter respondent pointed out, Radical Candor does have the early lead in the Golden Horseshoe contest for best Illinois twitter account for 2019.

  17. - Huh? - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 9:31 am:

Challenges met. 1.4% is still a legend in his own mind.

  18. - Anonymous - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 9:39 am:

Radical Candor is the historian the Rauner Era deserves.

  19. - JS Mill - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 9:49 am:

=Radical Candor is the historian the Rauner Era deserves.=

That is the perfect epitaph for the Rauner admin.

  20. - Lester Holt’s Mustache - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 9:56 am:

Brings up an important question - is Rauner wearing the leather flair vest in his official portrait, or the Carhardt jacket and flannel shirt?

  21. - Stumpy's bunker - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 10:22 am:

Challenges met: central Illinois legislators thrown out of their seats for representing their constituency.

  22. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 10:29 am:

It will be nice to move forward, beyond the Governor, and with Governor-Elect Pritzker mere minutes away from taking the helm, I look forward to discussing governing and politics where the search for common ground and solutions garnering bipartisan support beyond 60 and 30.

Radical Candor… a fan I remain. You did yeoman’s work.

  23. - Ginhouse Tommy - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 11:19 am:

Rich, you missed an opportunity tell the Rauner’s how most people feel about them with your choice of music on Friday. Instead of The Cars you should have played a song by Mama’s Pride called “Can I call you a cab”. It is a perfect fit.

  24. - Rich Miller - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 11:41 am:

===Instead of The Cars you should have ===

    It’s such a wavy midnight
    And you slip into insane
    Electric angel rock and roller
    I hear what you’re playin’[…]

    Substitution mass confusion
    Clouds inside your head
    Involving all my energies
    Until you visited
With your eyes of porcelain and of blue
    They shock me into sense
    You think you’re so illustrious
    You call yourself intense

  25. - Mama - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 2:04 pm:

I’m afraid Rauner will continue to work in the background to undermine unions and education in Illinois.

  26. - A 400lb. Guy on a bed - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 2:48 pm:

It speaks to the Trump base.

  27. - Rabid - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 5:38 pm:

    ” I’m gonna follow Bruce to Italy…” dianna ?

  28. - IllinoisInsider - Monday, Jan 14, 19 @ 11:17 pm:

Trust me, extending the Stratton cafeteria hours is nothing to brag about. The food there is atrocious.
