Rutherford continues fundraising

Friday, May 23, 2014

* Despite sitting on over $1.1 million in his campaign fund and having no immediate political prospects, Treasure Dan Rutherford is still raising money. From a Thursday afternoon fundraising e-mail…

…I know when my brother believes in something that he will continue to work hard for it. He will not back down. Drawing fair legislative maps during redistricting and getting the Constitutional Amendment on the ballot and adopted are just a couple of things I know he is very interested in.

I, along with hundreds of supporters, will never forget Dan’s remarks to the crowd on Primary Election night. With fire in his belly and a strong voice he addressed the crowd, “I will be back, and we will be stronger than ever. This is not the end but the beginning of a new chapter.”

This Rutherford Team and all of his supporters, will not back down. We can’t wait to see what Dan’s next chapter brings. We will continue to stand tall and proud beside him and support his efforts.

Dan is the State Treasurer through mid-January, 2015. He is staying politically active and plans to continue doing so, helping to bring diversity into the system. Dan’s political infrastructure is going to be maintained. He asks for your continued support.

To make a birthday gift to support his ongoing political efforts, please go to: http://danrutherford.org/calendar/event/43/EventDetails.aspx

Thank you. I know my brother appreciates you!

Sincerely,
Debi (Rutherford) Fornero
Treasurer Dan Rutherford’s ‘Sis’

When Dan Rutherford releases the Taxpayer funded investigation, then Dan, his sister, his twitter followers, Facebook “friends”, any one of them can ask for money.

    Until then …

@FakeRutherfordDan - please donate so I can continue to act Dopey and ignorant to appearances and form, do I can put myself in position for another “Fiasco Friday” #SomeoneNeedsToWearTheCollarForFF

  2. - Freddie Razzle - Friday, May 23, 14 @ 2:09 pm:

Do it now while you are still somewhat relevant I guess.

  3. - Oswego Willy - Friday, May 23, 14 @ 2:11 pm:

@FakeRutherfordDan - I will release the report either never or never. #MyCrackerJackTeamWantsTo HaveAnotherUselessPresser

  4. - Oswego Willy - Friday, May 23, 14 @ 2:14 pm:

@FakeRutherfordDan - it’s Friday, so why not ask for cash to continue my work of watching movies on a treadmill, then tweeting about it. Make checks payable to #DopeBornEveryMinute

===Drawing fair legislative maps during redistricting and getting the Constitutional Amendment on the ballot and adopted are just a couple of things I know he is very interested in.===

That ship has sailed, hasn’t it?

Plus, I think Tom Cross probably resents this more than anyone. Leave the stage Dan. Come back another day. For now, don’t interfere with someone who is trying to keep this office in the GOP column.

    Really poor form.

  6. - Almost the Weekend - Friday, May 23, 14 @ 2:26 pm:

    Dan Rutherford US Senate 2016!

  7. - Barney - Friday, May 23, 14 @ 2:29 pm:

clearly not very helpful to Cross or any other GOP trying to win an office this year.

If I may, I would buy you a shot and a beer for that. Well said.

@FakeRutherfordDan - my ego is afraid if I go away, no one will remember me! #FiascoFriday

  9. - wordslinger - Friday, May 23, 14 @ 2:37 pm:

What 47 said. If I were Cross, I’d be honked.

Plus, what does Rutherford have to do with the map amendment. How does giving money to him help? The hay’s in the barn.

    Bad form, indeed.

  10. - Oswego Willy - Friday, May 23, 14 @ 2:40 pm:

@FakeRutherfordDan - hello? Is everyone new to the fact it’s about me, only me “look at me!” #EnoughAboutMeDontAskAboutLawsuitButAskAboutMe

  11. - Oswego Willy - Friday, May 23, 14 @ 2:45 pm:

“For $100., you get the synopsis of the Taxpayer report to read. Encrypted.

For $500., you get to read the Encrypted synopsis, but Dan will sign it, ‘Treasurer a Rutherford’

For $1,000, you get all above, but a personalized signature.

And for $2,000 or more, you get all the above, and a special tweet, a Facebook mention, and signed Sun-Times and Trib articles of ‘Fiasco Friday’…”

If you are going to have such Bad Form, might as well go all the way.

  12. - LCP45 - Friday, May 23, 14 @ 3:05 pm:

This guy has no sense of decency and outsized sense of entitlement to go along with his super sized ego.

Call it what it is Dan: your retirement fund…

  13. - DuPage - Friday, May 23, 14 @ 3:35 pm:

I think Dan has got the right idea, raise all the money he can and save it for his lawyer’s bills, which will likely use all his funds and then some.

  14. - Mail Guy - Friday, May 23, 14 @ 3:37 pm:

maybe for an updated happy birthday video…

  15. - LincolnLounger - Friday, May 23, 14 @ 3:38 pm:

If people do not give, do the get an email from “Bro” saying, “Did you just say no to the Treasurer?”

Sorry OW this one gets the shot and beer.

  19. - hisgirlfriday - Friday, May 23, 14 @ 3:54 pm:

What “diversity into the system” is a wealthy white male career politician bringing, Debi?

  20. - Tom Joad - Friday, May 23, 14 @ 4:07 pm:

“I, along with hundreds of supporters, will never forget Dan’s remarks to the crowd on Primary Election night.” And I, and hundreds of other voters will remember when Dan said the Independent Lawyer he hired on taxpayer money will release the report on his investigation as soon as it is complete. Then not turning the report over to the press. Now he’s throwing a birthday party for himself? Talk about Chutzpah!

  21. - Sunshine - Friday, May 23, 14 @ 4:15 pm:

Having a war chest of over 1.1 million is seed money for lots of political favors, even if he does decide not to pursue a higher office.

Doesn’t he still have charges pending? Are we, the taxpayers on the hook for defending him on the work related charges?

Until he is no longer State Treasurer he does have a podium from which to speak and raise money. Looks like a tough road ahead and not sure why he wants to continue? Can anyone enlighten us…anyone?

  22. - Oswego Willy - Friday, May 23, 14 @ 4:27 pm:

    - Lobo Y Olla -,

How about one for snark and one for truth.

    I don’t mind.

Plus, - LincolnLounger - is usually has good snark without the shot and a beer incentive
