“Illinois voters are demanding to see what Pritzker is hiding”

Monday, Nov 6, 2017 - Posted by Rich Miller

* ILGOP…

On April 14th, J.B. Pritzker pledged to release his tax returns ’soon.’ Now, six months later, we’re hearing the same old promises from Pritzker, who continues to stall and hope this goes away.

Other Democrats have already challenged Pritzker on his obfuscation, and Illinois voters are demanding to see what Pritzker is hiding.

We already know that he has gamed the system through fellow Madigan crony Joe Berrios so he could receive a $230,000 tax break on his Gold Coast Chicago mansion.

What else might Pritzker be hiding? If you ask Pritzker, we’ll find out ‘soon.’

And they have the obligatory online clock.

…Adding… Text from a pal…

omg please tell me the ILGOP is going to get their own clock costume and chase pritzker around

Background on that is here. Heh.

Chase Pritzker around with a toilet - like the ones he ripped out of his mansion

  2. - Arsenal - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 3:17 pm:

Fair hit, but Trump exposed that voters don’t punish candidates over this.

  3. - Robert the Bruce - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 3:21 pm:

Pritzker should just release the main forms without schedules, claim privacy for the rest, and call it a day.

  4. - Whatever - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 3:30 pm:

Most candidates only give out the first two pages of the return, which will tell you nothing about Pritzker except that he’s rich. Which most people already know. I have long suspected that Trump won’t disclose his returns because they will show that he is nowhere near the great businessman he claims to be.

  5. - JS Mill - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 3:30 pm:

release em, then demand Rauner do the same.

  6. - Tired o'bull - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 3:30 pm:

No one cares about tax returns ughhh the GOP messages are like that annoying kid in school that everyone wanted to shut up

  7. - DuPage Bard - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 3:32 pm:

You know who cares about taxes? Poor people who want rich people to pay more.
Trump has proven taxes mean jack squat. If JB can lower property taxes and fund schools he wins in my book. Don’t care which party. Lead a real plan for lowering property taxes.

  8. - Tired o'bull - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 3:36 pm:

Seriously like everything a democrat does is some sinister plot according to the GOP. Here’s an example Democrat ate a salad - > what would be written by GOP’s Aaron Degroot

“The citizens of Illinois are tired of Madigan’s candidate Destroying the Hard Working cattle Industry in Illinois”

  9. - DuPage Saint - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 3:39 pm:

Releasing tax returns is not a requirement to run for office. It is a phony issue. However I wish it were a requirement for any elected official who has been in office for more than ten years

  10. - Arthur Andersen - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 3:42 pm:

The biggest thing JB is hiding is his belly.

  11. - Sue - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 3:47 pm:

The hypocrisy here is huge. Pritzgers family businesses have been as anti- union as they come. His tax scam with his house transferred costs on to everyone else. Yet- the Dems and Unions support him- Why because if he is elected things go back to the Illinois normal where the Dems and Unions rose the State and continue to spend us into oblivion

  12. - Steve - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 3:47 pm:

I doubt this will be a big issue. Not enough people care about this issue.

  13. - Guzzlepot - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 3:53 pm:

He should release his tax returns. I am a solid D, and one of the things that bothers me the most about Trump is that he won’t release his tax returns. I can’t say that it is a bad thing when an R does it but okay when a Dem does it. This is just about the only thing that would stop me from voting for Pritzker.

  14. - MG85 - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 3:59 pm:

I’m also a solid Democrat and I think Pritzker SHOULD NOT release his tax returns. This will let the ILGOP and Rauner use that as a talking point and then the Pritzker campaign can fire back to Rauner that he should have called for Trump’s tax returns during the Presidential election. He didn’t and the reason is because he’s a sycophant for Trump.

Then promise to release his tax returns AFTER the election. Enough is enough. Democrats need to stick up for themselves and stop playing the good guy in elections. Do not cowtow to the demands of the GOP. The ILGOP wants to be taken seriously? Ask for Trump to release his tax returns first. He has the nuclear codes and controls influence over the entire country’s economy. Then, and only then, should Pritzker, or any Democrat, hear the wishes of the GOP.

  15. - wordslinger - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 4:01 pm:

You’d think JB was had the foresight about public appearances to make sure he paid a reasonable rate of taxes the last few years in anticipation of a run.

But then again, the billionaire ripped toilets out of his buffer mansion to knock a few bucks off his property taxes. Good p.r. wasn’t on his mind when he made that move.

  16. - Annonin' - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 4:01 pm:

Speakin’ of hidin’ maybe ILGopies can get GovJunk to release the paperwork on the lawyer perp walked out of the building

  17. - Curl of the Burl - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 4:06 pm:

Flava Flav isn’t doing much these days. Maybe he’d be willing to wear a toilet clock and run around downtown Chicago looking for J.B.

  18. - Albany Park Patriot - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 4:08 pm:

There’s so much consistency in politics.

  19. - Anonymous - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 4:10 pm:

Not an issue. But I am not seeing the word “reform” coming from JB. I guess that issue is solved now, that we have a budget. LOL.

  20. - Arthur Andersen - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 4:11 pm:

C of the B, epic idea. Rauner could drop some dough on little ones as campaign favors, too. Better than bumper stickers to be sure.

  21. - illini - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 4:11 pm:

Correct me if I am wrong, but has Rauner ever released more than the first two pages of returns?

  22. - Winnin’ - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 4:15 pm:

This is easy. Just do as the Donald does. No Goppie can argue with that.

  23. - The Muse - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 4:20 pm:

I used to think tax returns mattered but now, in the age of Trump, I might be wrong.

  24. - OneMan - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 4:36 pm:

I would suggest a toilet and a clock. Like Rich said the TV does love them some visuals…

  25. - Ron Burgundy - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 5:29 pm:

I personally don’t care if candidates release tax returns or not. But, if you say you are going to do something voluntarily, you should do it. If you don’t want to, say so.

  26. - Anonymous - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 5:58 pm:

“You’d think JB was had the foresight about public appearances to make sure he paid a reasonable rate of taxes the last few years in anticipation of a run.”

You’re presuming he’s been planning this for years. I heard otherwise and the best evidence that he hasn’t is the property tax appeal. But I suspect this will all be pretty no biggie territory.

  27. - Arock - Monday, Nov 6, 17 @ 7:33 pm:

Pritzker showed what kind of ethical guy he is with the bogus way he had his property taxes rolled back. Now he tries to preach that the rich should be happy to pay their fair share as he and his relatives before him have scammed the system. He is a true politician in that if his lips are moving you know he is lying. Would be truly wonderful if the politicians that really want to serve their constituents were the ones in charge.

  28. - Loop Lady - Tuesday, Nov 7, 17 @ 7:52 am:

This issue and his relationship with Blago is great fodder for Biss and Kennedy…don’t let it go to waste guys…

  29. - Galens Guy - Tuesday, Nov 7, 17 @ 9:51 am:

    “The hypocrisy here is huge”

Yeah, right. When the ILGOP demands that president bone spur or the governor release his taxes, then we can start tossing around the “hypocrisy” word.

  30. - Anon - Tuesday, Nov 7, 17 @ 9:52 am:

Anyone dug through the paradise papers for any of our billionaire or would be billionaire governors?

  31. - FlippinAndFloppin - Tuesday, Nov 14, 17 @ 3:29 pm:

It would be comical, were it not so sad, all the dems who railed about Trump not releasing his returns now giving JB the free pass. If you actually cared about the issue, it wouldn’t matter who was or wasn’t doing it, it would only matter that they did or didn’t do it. This is hypocrisy at its finest.
