He represented the district from 1983 to 1999 and made an unsuccessful bid for Illinois secretary of state, but his stance on women’s health issues is very disturbing — Churchill voted to allow any man, including a rapist, to go to court to stop a woman from having an abortion if he suspects he is the father. He also opposes mandatory insurance coverage for mammograms.
