I’m thinking the Cross guys must have some electronic eavesdropping devices set up in Tusk’s office. There’s no other explanation for such an accurate transcript!
Btw, has anyone checked to see if the second dump was actually open for business when it got shut down? I thought it was strange that news reports said the owner’s business phone was disconnected.
“Gov. Blagojevich Orders Environmental Inspectors to Ford Heights Landfill, Threatens Shut-Down of Troubled Landfill if Illegal Dumping Is Still Taking Place.”
Does this guy ever actually govern, or what? BTW, what does EPA do? Wait until the Governor calls before jumping into action?
It does seem as though he governs with odd, tyrannical spasms.
Don’t like the price of prescription drugs? Break the law. Of course, no one else is supposed to break the law … especially my dumb state employees (I wish the state could function without state employees, it would be much more efficient — and cheaper) but sometimes the law needs breaking. Of course, I decide when the law should be broken. And, um, when I decide not to break the law and go through all the proper channels, I expect people to listen to me. And when they don’t, I throw a fit. I mean, I wanted those flu shots *weeks* ago! And, er, now look what you’ve done — stuck me with doses I can’t import and must sell.
I don’t understand why he goes through the FDA for the flu shots but doesn’t go through the FDA with other drugs. One’s okay and one’s not?
As a citizen who tries *not* to break the law — Blagorgeous confuses me. I can legally buy imported drugs illegally imported but I can’t legally drive, say, 65 in a 45 zone, right? Or not right?
Thanks for your asute view, Rhodes, er, I mean, Anonymous.
Seems to be a daily saga these days in the Governor’s Office. I tend to believe it has everything to do with the kiddies behind the scenes. I think you have a great thing going with the “faux” conversation on the 16th floor. So much so, think about penning a short play, a comedy for sure! The material the Gov’s puts out for us struggling writers is like giving candy to a baby.
“BTW, what does EPA do? Wait until the Governor calls before jumping into action?”
Been a while since my IEPA dealings (several years there), but if it’s any consolation, I’ve heard it’s gotten WORSE….
Obviously, you’ve never had to fill out any of IEPA’s myriad of different & sundry forms (sign here, there, & everywhere else attesting to anything/everything), do it all in triplicate, make 4 additional copies, and then go back and make your initials (I kid you not!) certifing that your signature(s) are indeed valid.
Btw, they wanted (required) us to make the copies first & then initial in ink (got to have those originals of the initials of the signatory on the copies, I guess).
Shades of those MASH reruns & Radar filling out forms.
If you really want to play fun & games with IEPA, go for that dreaded “S” word - STORMWATER.
Life is just too short for dealing with that one….

Here’s the headline from the Governor’s Website.
