B-List
Wednesday, Jan 19, 2005 - Posted by Rich Miller Looks like we’ve been sent to the back of the inaugural line: The Michigan State Society Ball is sponsored by the state’s congressional delegation. The state’s officially sanctioned ball, the Freedom Ball at Union Station, also includes Alaska, Alabama, Illinois, Louisiana and Kansas. Both are scheduled for Saturday. Definitely a “B-List” party.

I believe that the media in Michigan incorrectly reported the day of the Union Station ball that includes Illinois. The Illinois State Society hosted their event last evening which as been the tradition. The OFFICIAL inaguaral balls that will be held this evening are at various venues around DC and are actually determined by size of delegation. The Union Station Venue is one of the best in DC and like all the other official balls, POTUS/FLOTUS and VPOTUS/and Mrs. Cheney will make an appearance, remarks and dance. Characterizing Illinois on the B list is simply not correct, all the balls are about the same and the only big thing that happens is the appearance of the President.
