The “New Way” that isn’t
Monday, Feb 21, 2005 - Posted by Rich Miller From Crain’s: A generous donor to Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s campaign fund has won a no-bid state contract to investigate insurance brokers in Illinois. Read the whole story, but it looks to me like the Dept. of Insurance is not only using an investigator of questionable qualifications, but is investigating something that ought to be handled by the Illinois Attorney General. Wonder why?

Didn’t Cherry get his former law partner, and now Circuit Court Judge, Peter Flynn in some hot water last year with some shenanigans in a divorce case? Cherry picking isn’t going to help Rod out.

“Emergency” insurance crisis? No-bid contract. Funny how a big contributer was right on top of the list. This one has a foul stench.

Why is anyone surprised anymore? Contracts and real estate leases have always been the spoils of winning the office of Governor and SOS. Perhaps we’re just more sensitive to it following the “Adventures of King George”. Perhaps we should feel fortunate that this administration is so inept that it makes detection of corrupt practices so easy. In a related question, has anyone actually catalogued a complete listing of contributor contracts and leases? Might make for fascinating reading…

That is like having the fox investigate who is trying to break into the hen house.
Blago is the king of hypocricy.

Maybe GRod can hire his old boss Ed Vrdolyak as the investigating attorney
or he can Republican Big Jim Thompson–he can do a real from the rear investigation
or well respected Jim Burns who couldn’t find corruption in SOS
or well respected Jeremy Margolis who white washed the licenses for bribes with Scott Fawell and Dean Bauer

GRod can hire a donor insider unqualified lawyer to investigate himself and than hire a donor PR company to explain why

Rod’s old boss Eddie Vrdolyak? Eddie V. had cleared out of the Chicago City Council and was doing his Cicero “legal” work by the time Rod was elected to the IL House in 1992. Not that I like Rod that much, but saying that Ed was once Rod’s boss is just nonsense. The GOP is just sore they don’t run the show anymore.

cherry is an outstanding attorney who will likely bring $$ back to the insureds through this investigation. let the man do the job. let’s see what happens. he should not be excluded because he contributes on the democratic side… nor should he be included for that same position. let’s see.
