I wonder what he has planned?
Thursday, Apr 20, 2006 - Posted by Rich Miller Actually, I think I know, but I don’t think I can say yet. Remember yesterday when I pointed out to you that Governor Blagojevich’s campaign lifted a photograph from Jake Parrillo’s site? I wondered if there might be some copyright issues. From Jake’s blog today: I’ve consulted with some folks and after some discussion, we’ll be pursuing this a bit. Should be fun to watch. UPDATE: TopinkaWatch.com is up and running, but without the purloined photo. You can also read the text for two of the new TV ads here. [Hat tip: ArchPundit]

Does that mean the gov’s campaign staff are as incompetent as the one’s on the state payroll?

Masterlist - you speak as if they are different?

Isn’t Blago a lawyer by trade? Maybe Jake can dig into that $20 million Blago has gotten for 2002 pay to play.

Go ahead and pursue, cause the photo on the news will be even better.

If you learned anything in college it should be that using electronic text/pictures created by anyone but you without a reference, permission, or public domain material is considered plagiarizing. If consistent, ethical behavior is going to be the watchword for changing the way state political business is done, how is downloading and using someone’s picture different than downloading the Rolling Stones MP3 catalog on a P2P server?
Personally, I couldn’t care less, but I am not running for governor.

CookDem is right, bad political strategy. Also, ever notice how the anti-trial lawyer bunch is always the first ones to lawyer up? Hypocrites.

Topinka Watch and the new ads
The TopinkaWatch.com site is up and running and has the transcripts of the new ads up on the site highlighting assault weapons and minimum wage. And a stolen photograph. Now, when I say the following, I’m not looking for a…

YDD - The “anti-trial lawyer bunch” has no problem with trial lawyers helping people sue in order to right a wrong or recoup actual damages. We oppose the random and excessive damages for things that cannot are currently not uniformly quantifiable that make liability insurance too costly for important professions and often do nothing more than make the trial lawyers themselves wealthy.
I really don’t think Jake was gonna sue Blago for $10 million dollars. He just wanted the picture removed. Fair enough, right?
- Yellow Dog Democrat - Thursday, Apr 20, 06 @ 6:51 pm:
GOP — What happened to the days where folks just called and asked nicely? And since when is copyright infringement for a photograph an “actual” damage? It’s not like Jake was selling the photo. What do you think that photo cost him, 23 cents?
So that means his lawyer gets…eight cents?

I just read the Topinka Watch website and my comment is “shame” on Blo-puffer-vich. People want to hear about the issues and how they are going to be fixed. I’m so sick of him - he is nothing but a liar.
A man’s evil deeds will find him out. Hopefully sooner than later.

YDD: Do you have more info about this story that you would like to share with the class?
From the info in Rich’s post, all we know is that “I’ve consulted with some folks and after some discussionâ€, Jake will “be pursuing this a bit.†Without any more info about what, exactly, that might mean, wasn’t it a little premature to start whipping out the ‘h’ word in the first place? Maybe all he means by that is that he’ll be placing a phone call and asking nicely.

As a state employee who is required to take an ethics test before the end of the month because our beloved governor wants to make sure that we are all fully versed in what’s ethical, I’m thinking maybe he should demand it of his campaign folks as well. Apparently they aren’t following his excellent example.

Rich, can we please have a caption contest for this photo????
- Wumpus - Friday, Apr 21, 06 @ 12:39 pm:
YDD, copyright infringement and plagarism are what they are, crimes. Just like some are anti-police and who do they call when there is a crime committed against them>? You can speak in rhetoric all you want, but your logic is still faulty.
