My wife and I were diving through Illinois over the Memorial Day weekend. The state looks like, well, it looks like the kind of place that this administration has maintained. Look at the condition of the interstate ‘beautification’ and think about the plight of all the state agencies. Now you can get an idea of how ugly things are all over Illinois.
Has the grass been cut along the interstates anywhere? It’s about one foot tall and really looks shabby. Nothing says WELCOME TO OUR HOUSE more than an unmowed yard. I gues Rod is doing this for the children.
Anubody seen any of the millions and millions and millions of dollars worth of flowers Patty Blah just had to have? $25 million dollars worth of….what? My wife and I were looking for them but we could not find one single site of flowers along the highways (we were not in Chicago). Plenty of weeds, though. Maybe that’s what Rod and Patty mean by flowers. I guess this personal pet project of theirs is helping working families.
Now Hoffman trots out $1.5 million dollars for flowers in Fairview Heights just in time for an election.
Democrat stewardship. Oy gevelt.

It’s great to see we’re not wasting taxpayer money on tractors and gas, while paying people to mow when there are so many other far more important problems than making our highways look unnatural.
It’s also good to see we’re trying to invest in Illinois’ future with clean coal technology, since we’ve got lots of dirty coal.

The strike by Gateway workers at Sheridan
shows clearly how overpaid state government workers are. Not to say that Gateway workers shouldn’t get some more money, but why are we paying state workers double what the Gateway workers make. Presumably the Gateway workers are as qualified or they wouldn’t be able to practice. They are getting market rates. And according to one account, Gateway workers pay $400 a month for employee-only health insurance that state workers get for about $60 a month.
State workers should be paid competitive wages but it looks like these, and probably most state workers, when taking into account salary plus health insurance plus pension are being paid at
3 to 4 times the market rate, for the same level
of work.
One does have to applaud the guv for not jumping in and making them all state employees, the easy way out. But if he changes his mind…it’ll cost us.
Another example of the public servants living way better than the public.
