Todd Stroger calls for 17% across the board budget cuts by Cook County departments and hires his best friend’s wife for big money. He has his own private elevator at the County Building.

    Shocking!

  2. - Madison County Watcher - Friday, Jan 5, 07 @ 9:18 am:

Can the plaintiffs get a fair trial in Madison County against Tom Lakin? The same guy who is alleged to threatened that he is “the judge, the sheriff, everything in Madison County”? The jury selection in that case will be a media spectacle.

I’m happy to hear that the vet shelter is ready to go. I have several friends on the board. There’s a real need for that kind of thing, even in DuPage County.

The time limit on the State Ethics test is a joke. Many people do the following, you log in, go get some coffee, answer a couple questions, then take some phone calls, repeat until done with test. It is not stupid to educate people on ethics, but this test does not do it. A third grader could finish the test in 10 minutes, the only reason it would take that long is the test writer’s use of trickly, double negative language. The test also uses ehtical situations that are very clear. Don’t take the limo ride and madonna tickets from the state vendor who has an unsigned contract on your desk awaiting approval. Duh. They don’t ask any questions that are fuzzy in any way.

The elevator stunt has been revoked amid much embarrasment. The purchasing agent position had been vacant for months. Why fill it now? It looks like Boy Stroger is continuing his fathers nespotic ways. Cook County is a joke.
