Comcast service problem - Blogging will resume soon
Thursday, Apr 24, 2008 - Posted by Rich Miller * As of 8:52 am, Kevin and I are both having trouble accessing the Tribune, Sun-Times and Peoria Journal Star websites. *** UPDATE *** A Comcast recording says there’s a service interruption in the Springfield area and they’re working on it. *** UPDATE 2 *** Kevin got through to a Comcast service person who told him that it’s a statewide outage issue and there’s no timeline yet on when it will be fixed. techie *** UPDATE 3 *** I’m able to access some sites, albeit with much patience, so I’ll post some stuff in a few minutes. *** UPDATE 4 *** I’d make some smart Alec remark about how I’m so looking forward to competition in the cable industry, but some Springfieldians might disagree…
*** UPDATE 5 *** It’s beyond weird that some sites are fully accessible to me right now, like the Post-Dispatch, while others are completely inaccessible, like the Tribune, and still others are slow but somewhat accessible, like the Sun-Times. *** UPDATE 6 *** Man, this is worse than the old dial-up days. *** UPDATE 7 *** As of 11:35 am, the problem appears to be dissipating.

More lies about how we tried to get those “Young Republicans” Rove & KJ to take out Fitz.
As the SpinSisters tell you again and again those things never ever ever happen in BlaggoofWorld
There now go back to sleep

If you’re truly south of I-80, shouldn’t it be, “where’s my mullet?”

If there was a chance to get fiber to my house, AT&T could have a ‘footprint’ in my yard. I’d just plant some shrubs around it.

If you’re a comcast “customer” (aka Slave), be sure to call them when the outage is done and get a refund for the downtime. The CR for the outage is CR122426917

If you run into problems again and you’re on twitter, you can message http://twitter.com/comcastcares.
- Springfieldian - Thursday, Apr 24, 08 @ 10:45 am:
It’s nice to know Comcast immediately raised their rates as soon as they took over from Insight. They stated that it was to provide “continued excellence in service and performance”.
- Ken in Aurora - Thursday, Apr 24, 08 @ 10:58 am:
Springpatch is getting U-Verse already? We can’t even get DSL in my part of Aurora!
- Say WHAT? - Thursday, Apr 24, 08 @ 11:15 am:
I saw some of the at&t boxes being installed where I live today (not in Springfield). They are surprisingly large, take up a lot of yard and take away from the view. To top it off, its on the corner where I pull out onto the main street every morning and made it hard to see oncoming traffic. I think there will be problems here that bushes or shrubs can’t fix. Hope Comcast solves your problem soon.

Anyone in Springpatch tried Xanadoo wireless internet yet? If so, how is it working?
- Chanson - Thursday, Apr 24, 08 @ 11:46 am:
I am so happy that we chose AT&T and we did so because telephone service rarely went out in last thiry years and cable cannot make it through severe weather. When we moved into our house the backyard easement was full of cable and phone equipment and figure it’s just goes with living in the modern era.
- Ghost - Thursday, Apr 24, 08 @ 11:59 am:
Looked at Xanadoo, but they want the same rate as Comcast PLUS paying them for their special modem for each device.
go AT&T!!
- Capitol View - Thursday, Apr 24, 08 @ 12:08 pm:
we have Comcast and phones over computer, so when Comcast has a bad cable day, my staff and I waste the entire morning until they get their act together again.
No rate reductions, no apologies - just be happy that the expected service is up and runnign again. For the moment, anyway…
- Mr. Wizard - Thursday, Apr 24, 08 @ 1:16 pm:
Looked into Xanadoo 2 days ago. I recommend waiting for 2 reasons:
1- They have only a few installs in Spfld and experience is not known yet;
2- They are supposed to provide a new faster modem in the next couple months.
Btw, their current “special” offer gives you a full rebate on the $100 modem.
