This just in… Supreme Court rejects Missouri’s appeal
Sunday, May 1, 2011 - Posted by Rich Miller * 8:41 pm - The Illinois attorney general’s office just sent me an e-mail saying that Missouri’s appeal to the US Supreme Court has been rejected. Missouri has been trying to stop the Army Corps of Engineers from detonating a fuseplug levee in that state. The levee’s destruction would take flooding pressure off of Cairo, IL and the surrounding area. It’s case was dismissed by federal judge Steve Limbaugh, then the appeals court rejected a motion to stay Judge Limbaugh’s ruling. That ruling was then appealed all the way up to the US Supreme Court, which just turned thumbs down. * Here’s a photo of that nasty Cairo sandboil that has the Corps of Engineers so worried.
