*** UPDATED x1 *** Caption contest!

Wednesday, May 18, 2011 - Posted by Rich Miller

* A subscriber sent this photo of an “alternative fuel vehicle” parked in Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon’s Statehouse spot…

* Yesterday’s winner was Waitress Practicing Politics, for this (slightly edited for punctuation) comment…

Pay no attention to the Mike - uh, man - behind the curtain…

WPP wins a free ticket to the White Sox Caucus outing this summer. Today’s winner gets the same thing.

*** UPDATE *** According to LG Simon’s office, she participated in a Bike to Work event this morning with 50-75 other people. Here’s another photo for your perusal…

Have at it.

Some felt that the governor should be leading by budget example not the Lt. Governor

Next week the dealer is upgrading me to the ‘Sport Package’ — a Saluki paint job and a wicked cool Banjo rack.

Aspiring Lt. Governor Jason Plummer was excited to finally have the training wheels removed from his bicycle. To which he promptly responded with Look Ma, two wheels, two wheels!

Bike to work week rule number one - do not leave your water bottle on the bike with conniving co-workers around.

A recent press release to our Illinois State Vendors from the office of the Lt. Gov:
Our Budget is a mess and we owe you Millions!! Our gas prices are among the highest in the country therefor, I could not fill up my gas hog. I was recently assigned this SWEET 10 speed from my office and it comes with all the FIX’NS. A SWEET paint job, Upgraded spokes, and a GEL seat. The pawn shop said it came with complimentery Valet parking, two armed guards, heated handle grips and a bolt on bug shield for long trips back and forth to Chicago. Although we are in a budget crunch I sprung for the upgraded aluminum Spokes (for the bling) but I decoded against the OFF-Road Tires keeping in mind the MPG of this beast!!

To my Illinois Vendors…I have made many sacrifices for you…PLEASE o PLEASE don’t do away with my office!!!!

  36. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, May 18, 11 @ 2:03 pm:

    “Dear Jason,

Here is a picture of me with the bike you gave me. It was very thoughtful of you to think of me.

Although a bike ride to talk sounds ‘interesting’ I need to do all the important things a Lt. Governor does every day.

If I find time, I will let you know. Say hi to your Dad.

    Sincerely,

    Sheila Simon
    Lt. Governor
    State of Illinois

Due to the cost of gasoline, upkeep and maintenance of vehicles, we see displayed here, the first of the new State of Illinois issued summer vehicles for all State of Illinois employees, judges excluded of course. This is part of the new State Transportation Un-motored Pedaling Initial Drive or STUPID Program.

Bitterly disappointed after realizing the flier announcing a free Wu-Tang Clan Concert under the dome today was instead an elaborate practical joke orchestrated by the Lt. Governor and Minority Leader Radogno, Sheila Simon’s riding partner, Betsy, held back leathery tear drops as she rode her custom-built trike to go watch Lost re-runs with Gov. Quinn for the rest of the day.

Thus, the Lt. Governor’s bike was left alone for the afternoon.
