Remap report
Tuesday, May 17, 2011 - Posted by Rich Miller * Greg Hinz has a story about the new congressional map. He cautions, and I concur, that none of this stuff is set in stone. Things change fast during remap time. But this sort of thing is happening with state legislative districts as well…
Several former super-majority black legislative districts will now be majority black because of population loss. Black Caucus members decided they wanted to retain their Statehouse numbers rather than fall back on the protection of overwhelmingly black districts. * Hinz says this new district is designed to lure wealthy Democratic businessman John Atkinson away from a challenge to Lipinski…
* Interesting…
Hinz claims that Democrats would end up with nine seats, compared to eight for the Republicans and one swing seat (Schilling). Thoughts?

Tuesday, May 17, 2011 - Posted by Rich Miller * I told subscribers about these numbers yesterday, but here are the new proposed salary percentages for the pension reform plan…
As of Sunday, McCarthy did not have numbers for state workers who are also in the Social Security program. So, I’m not totally sure about that 14 percent number in the ISN story. * Judges are not included in the bill…
* Former Gov. Edgar has some reservations…
* Meanwhile, the “We Are One” labor coalition has a new radio ad opposing the plan. Rate it… Script…
