Question of the day
Tuesday, Feb 28, 2012 - Posted by Rich Miller
* Three stories…
* Former US Sen. Roland Burris will never accept reality: Burris said in an interview broadcast Friday on WBEZ that he was the victim of malicious journalists who owe him an apology. “It really impacted my family,” he said of the criticism, adding that “99.9 percent of it was totally unjustified. All I did was accept the appointment from the governor. Did nothing else.”
* Patti Blagojevich tells Rosie O’Donnell her husband is innocent: “I’m positive,” she says, adding, “I was there, and I’ve heard all the conversations. I know his heart. So much of this case was intent — what was his intent? And I know his heart.”
* Donald Trump thinks Blagojevich’s sentence is too harsh: “He doesn’t go down as Albert Einstein,” Trump said, “But people liked him. There was something about him that was nice. I just think that to be going away for years and you have killers walking the street that don’t get sentenced like that.”
* The Question: Which of these stories do you care about the least? Take the poll and then explain your answer in comments, please. Thanks.
- Tom B. - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 11:35 am:
I hate when anyone puts that fraud Trump in the media.
- Ray del Camino - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 11:37 am:
Trump. What a gasbag.
- MrJM - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 11:38 am:
I like the Patti Blagojevich story least because it reminds me that she remains unindicted.

- davidh60010 - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 11:41 am:
However delusional, Burris and Patti have a direct personal stake in the matter. Not seeing how any of this has the least bit to do with The Donald.
- 47th Ward - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 11:43 am:
I hate all three of these quotes but yeah, I got to go with Trump. Patti is in denial and Burris is pathetic, but Trump is truly despicable, for so many reasons and on so many levels.
- Way Way Down Here - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 11:45 am:
Who really cares what Trump thinks about anything?
But don’t forget “The Burris School of Politics.” Now there’s a story. . .
- Dirty Red - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 11:45 am:
Roland - Typical filler.
Patti - Typical filler.
The Donald - Seriously? Why is he even still on call sheets?
- Ghost of John Brown - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 11:46 am:
I voted for the Trump story. But to say that I care the least about that one is kind of like saying I care less about the UNC-Ashville basketball team than the UNC-Greensboro basketball team. A pox on all of them. The Burris story is just a little funnier. Trump is a blow-hard that gets about 99.999% more coverage than he is due.
- amalia - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 11:49 am:
Roland. arrogant. lightweight.
- anon sequitor - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 11:50 am:
Trump trumps everything else. What a joke.
- OneMan - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 11:50 am:
Voted for the Burris story just because he can’t seem to let it go…
Trump as a very close second…
- mokenavince - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 11:54 am:
Roland has to be the luckest guy in the world, plus he’s run out of space on his tombstone.
- Jeff Wartman - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 11:55 am:
I would vote for Burris if Neil Steinberg’s column today didn’t make the story hilarious. Apparently Steinberg was there waiting and when he asked Burris what he has been up to, Burris asked him if he was going to pay him for an interview. Classic…
- Cheryl44 - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 11:56 am:
Trump.
As far as Burris not letting it go, I doubt he called WBEZ and demanded to tell his version of reality again. Patty, OTOH, may have made that call.
- sal-says - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 11:58 am:
Should have an ‘all of the above’ choice.
It’s far past time for for all these ‘media hogs’ to just go away. Quietly, please.
- Northsider - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 11:58 am:
I agree with davidh @ 11:41 a.m. Besides, I can’t remember the last time Trump had anything to say that was worth hearing.
- LakeviewJ - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 12:03 pm:
Trump. It baffles me as to why people are entertained by goofy alternate realities. It disturbs me that they allow these characters to inject themselves into the real world.
- Pot calling kettle - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 12:04 pm:
Burris. It matters the least.
Framing Rod as misunderstood and overly punished matters because neither are true. While Rod is not a murderer, threatening funding for a children’s hospital is a clear example of an action that could have impacted life and health.
- LincolnLounger - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 12:09 pm:
They are all idiots, but I have to go with Patti. My favorite part is when Rosie said that Rod was well-regarded by Illinoisans when he was arrested. Way to do some research, Ro!
- Tommydanger - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 12:10 pm:
Burris since he is truly and in reality has been for some time been Mr. Irrelevant.
- Peter - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 12:13 pm:
Trump wins in a rout. The others at least have a presence (other than a large skyscraper) in Illinois.
- Stones - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 12:15 pm:
I care about Donald Trump’s opinion the least. I would expect Patti to support her husband 100% Roland is just Roland.
- Cook County Commoner - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 12:16 pm:
Mr. Trump’s har care products apparently impede cerebral functioning. A corrupt politician in many ways is more destructive than a murderer. Sentencing should begin with life without chance of parole and be adjusted downwards depending on the facts.
- Mom - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 12:21 pm:
Burris has been relegated to the “see ya in a footnote” historical heap.
Patti continues to sing “Stand By Your Man” in a key that can only be heard by dogs.
Trump is a national treasure. Watching Seth Meyer and President Obama double team him at the White House Correspondence Dinner is one of the funniest comedic routines in political history.
Forget Burris. Patti will be whining for decades to come. But please, don’t stop writing about Trump.
- Irish - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 12:21 pm:
Trump - This goes to show money can buy you things. It can buy you the ability to publicly make yourself look like an a*&. This from the guy who fires people and ruins their careers because they look at him funny.
- Ron Burgundy - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 12:22 pm:
Trump obviously matters the least because he is peripheral to the Blago situation, and no one really cares what he thinks.
I did enjoy Roland speaking in the third person in his interview though. Wonder if he will do that in his memoirs?
- Foster brooks - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 12:26 pm:
D. All of the above
- wishbone - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 12:37 pm:
The Donald and Blago. Two immoral losers.
- Ivory-billed Woodpecker - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 12:46 pm:
Each story is ghastly in its own fashion. And yet I cannot look away.
Trump’s rabble rousing around the “Central Park jogger” case in the late ’80s still stands out for outrageousness. Then he wanted us to execute men who subsequently were exonerated. Now he simply thinks we’re being too tough on a guy who was convicted by his own words. I guess Trump cannot help identifying with a fellow narcissist. As much as I wish otherwise, Trump pushes my buttons well enough that I sometimes care about his blatherings.
Patti Blagojevich seems to be daring somebody to indict her. Had not realized how contagious narcissism can be. I find myself interested in the same way I might watch a moose crossing a frozen lake - wondering whether she will make it across.
Left with caring least about Burris.
- Gregor - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 12:47 pm:
Trump. His only stake was to use Blago’s notoriety for his own publicity needs.
Patti really IS an un-indicted co-conspirator, and I can only assume it was because the feds knew it would be bad PR for Rod’s trial to go after Patti.
Burris careas about…Burris. He’s so into etching the marble because he figures people have short memories and if he keeps touting his bests, that’s all history will remember.
- Wensicia - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 1:01 pm:
I’ll never understand how Trump fits into any political debate.
- Keep it Simple - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 1:12 pm:
Trump’s the outsider.
- Jake From Elwood - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 1:21 pm:
I voted for Mr. Squirrel Hair.
He is a New Yorker whose only tie to the matter was his lame reality tv show. Who cares?
- bored now - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 1:45 pm:
who gives a flying frick what donald trump thinks???
- Mr. Ethics - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 1:45 pm:
Voted for Burris. Does anyone care that nobody cares.
- Wickedred - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 1:54 pm:
Couldn’t vote for all three, but really WHY did Patti get on Rosie in the first place. I mean, she’s not someone famous or who has something profound to say. She, like her husband, is a ninny.
Not that I care about what Burris has to say. It’s over dude, let it go.
And Donald, well, Illinois waits with bated breath for what profound guidance he will give.
- JustaJoe - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 2:28 pm:
Patti B and Rosie O? Please.
- Arthur Andersen - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 2:37 pm:
Roland. The tombstone.
- ah HA! - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 2:44 pm:
No option of “None of the above”???
- Retired Non-Union Guy - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 2:53 pm:
Ronald … but would have voted “all the above”
- Retired Non-Union Guy - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 2:55 pm:
Forgot to add, no real explanation needed, but since you asked …
Ronald - best example of resume enhancing except one
Patti - she was there, should be going to jail with the hubby
Trump - gas bag
- 3rd Generation Chicago Native - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 3:15 pm:
I picked Burris, because he is a washed up pol.
I am sure we will see more of Patti, and I am sure they threw her a few dollars to talk with Rosie. It will be interesting to see what else she will do for money.
As far as Trump anything can come out of his mouth.
- TwoFeetThick - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 3:24 pm:
Trump’s a moron whose opinion matters not one bit. The other two are just sad, leftover bits of yesterday’s news. Trump wins.
- Wife of 1 - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 3:40 pm:
Who cares what Trump has to say about any of this - he wasn’t involved.
- Plutocrat03 - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 4:07 pm:
Went to three different computers and voted for them all.
Can we get the Donald to move his tower out of town?
- adolfo - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 4:15 pm:
If just those three … Patti. How about Jeremy Lin — turnover champ from the center of the media universe — as a fourth option?
- downstate commissioner - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 4:21 pm:
Didn’t vote, just read comments -
3rd Generation-See more of Patti? PLAYBOY? She’s kind of cute, if she would smile.
Burris at one time was a respected politician, now he is losing his mind.
Going back to vote for Trump, just to see how much he is winning (losing?) by.
Plotocrat3 wins QOD…
- D.P. Gumby - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 4:43 pm:
The ultimate 1% poster child–Trump only gains attention because he is a rich buffoon.
- 3rd Generation Chicago Native - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 4:59 pm:
downstate commissioner…..ewww no, on the blab circuit only fully clothed.
- Levois - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 5:26 pm:
LOL @ Trump I had to vote for that guy. He’s not at all relevant compared to those other quotes from Mrs. Blago and Sen. Burris.
- Ratman - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 5:32 pm:
Amazing how Illinois could have elected Blago and Burris to so many offices so many times.
- wishbone - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 7:21 pm:
@Plutocrat03 - Stuffing the ballot box, so so Illinois. I love it.
- South of the Loop - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 7:29 pm:
Trump another hair case and a blabbermouth bore
- Maven - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 7:48 pm:
Who cares what Trump has to say about anything? Honestly, why is he even commenting? Since when is he an authority on anything at all?
- zatoichi - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 10:08 pm:
Not from Illinois. Who cares what he thinks.
- nearnwsidejoe - Tuesday, Feb 28, 12 @ 11:52 pm:
At least Mrs. B. and Burris have some qualifications to be making comments on their respective situations. Donald Trump has no more business commenting on the Blagojevich situation than either of them do commenting on anyone’s bad haircut
- wordslinger - Wednesday, Feb 29, 12 @ 8:43 am:
A couple of years ago, I was at Madison Square Garden and found myself standing behind Trump. The man’s coloring is an un-natural orange. And that doo of his swirls around the back of his head like cotton candy.
