All the high praise for Fitz comes off as a rebuke to his predecessors, most of whom came from the Big Jim political tree.

The consensus seems to be Fitz was willing to go after the big fish, while previous U.S. attorneys were content with the small fry.

I wonder what guys like Big Jim, Webb, Skinner, Valukas, et. al., think of that.

Big Jim, Webb, Skinner, Valukas are too busy counting their money to think of the public good.

It’s time for top Quinn administration officials and their deputies get over their “ Blagojevich versus Fitzgerald” animosity toward the federal government.

For years Blagojevich loyalists within the Quinn administration have been deliberately undermining federally supported programs. These safety and commerce programs, which reside in a number of state agencies, have suffered from the Quinn administration’s falsified documents, obstruction, misconduct, and retaliation against whistleblowers in Illinois government. Because of Quinn’s actions, Illinois has borne significant costs in the form of lost grant funds, forgone program benefits, and legal costs.

It’s long overdue for Governor Quinn to end his misguided war against federal programs in Illinois. Rather than promoting and defending high-level mischief-makers, Governor Quinn and Attorney General Madigan should rein them in and promote proper conduct in administering these programs. By leading with honesty and integrity, Governor Quinn and Attorney General Madigan could improve the quality of life for all of Illinois.

Good riddance, Fitzgerald. Now that you’ve ruined hundreds of lives it is time to cash in big time. What goes around comes around.

One has to think that Peter Fitzgerald should take some pride in the legacy of his choice. The guy clearly saw the overt and covert corruption in Illinois politics (including his own party) and made the right choice. Here’s to him.

===Now that you’ve ruined hundreds of lives it is time to cash in big time. What goes around comes around. ===

You say that like cashing in bigtime is a bad thing resulting from negative karma. I’d disagree with your logic there, Bill.

  7. - Bill - Thursday, May 24, 12 @ 10:09 am:

The negative karma will come eventually.

  8. - Plutocrat03 - Thursday, May 24, 12 @ 10:45 am:

The vast majority of the folks PF convicted deserved worse than they got. The depth of corruption remaining in this State is astounding. (that includes the local governments)

The go slow of the legal system paid off for the criminals in the system.. PF is off to better pastures and the new US Attorney is unlikely to be as aggressive on rooting out the crooks.
