CA 49 is up 56-44 but I believe it needs either 50% of total votes cast in the general election OR 60% of those voting on the CA. Hard to tell if it is passing.
My comment earlier about wondering whether the insane amount of last minute advertising in the Dold-Schneider race meant Dold doing worse than I’d expected. Seems so.
Lets face it Rich, Cross and Radogno are an embarrassment when it comes to winning, They both deserve stiff challenges to their leadership because they have done absolutely nothing to moves their parties forward in elections
don’t know that one can fault moderate leaders when there is so much crazy in the R party that predominates and the Dems drew the lines here. the national face of the R party became nuts like Akin, Mourdock, King and all the others who think a woman should not have control of her own body. and for all those who said that Dems confused people with issues that “don’t count” like birth control, ask yourselves why the Republican conservatives keep working on that issue first if they don’t care about it. big night for women!
It’s a worse debacle than the GOP feared. What, did Cross lose — ten seats? Dems picked up seats in the heart of the GOP territory in DuPage (Conroy, Cullerton, Willis).
It appears that not a single legislator who voted for the temporary income tax lost. Kotowski and Nekrtiz both won handily despite their vote for higher taxes. Noland advocates a graduated income tax and he won by 2-to-1.
MJM dumping all that money into the Beaubien race was sheer genius. He probably knew she didn’t stand a chance, but it sure dried up alot of GOP money that could have been spent on other races.
You just can’t be the party of no. Just because you don’t get your way on certain things quit being obstructionists and continue to work for the issues you believe in don’t take your ball and bat and go home.
Kudos to all the boys and girls who gave up their lives over the past few months. The dem staffers deserve these wins, but the repubs staff worked hard too (just not as hard).
Rather than blaming it on the map, Madigan’s mystical ways, or calling the voters stupid, the IL Republican Party might want to wake up.Now maybe, just maybe, Cross and the other obstructionists will wake up and do the job they were sent to Springfield to do. Unfortunately, I doubt that will happen.

With the maps I dont see the GOP moderating Primaiies will be the biggest threat to the incumbents in both parties. This looks to be the case nationally too.
Smiddy won. Another incumbent Republican bites the dust.
If the Dems have 71 seats, that means the House GOP will be a shrunken caucus of just 47 powerless members.

I saw numbers from Trib on IL Senate 19 with Hastings having 62% of vote with, I think, over 80 precincts reporting.
