No class
Wednesday, Nov 7, 2012 - Posted by Rich Miller * The last time anybody heard from Jason Plummer was late last night…
I checked with the Enyart campaign this morning. Plummer still hasn’t conceded. Dude, you lost by 9 points. Be a man, already. Sheesh.

Maybe JayJay can gear up for a gubernatorial race in ‘14. Everybody else is jumping in the GOP primary, why not him?
- Precinct Captain - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:04 am:
Maybe Big Baby Plummer could try city council or township supervisor next.

With veterans day fast approaching, I’m proud that Illinois has sent a distinguished military man to congress. The biggest hawks tend to be those who have never served. I’m hoping that the President’s second term will be one of great peacetime expansion!
- Roscoe Tom - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:09 am:
He is probably concerned he will have to actually do something in the Navy he joined for convenience and politcal purposes. Maybe daddy can make him an admiral.
- OneMan - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:10 am:
I don’t know what is worse, the fact Plummer is doing/did this
or
I had at least one other GOP candidate in mind when I saw the title of the post.
- OldSmoky2 - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:11 am:
He couldn’t call to concede after Dad took away his phone privileges and sent him to his room for spending his whole year’s allowance and then throwing a tantrum because his money’s gone and he broke all his toys.
- mokenavince - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:15 am:
Maybe Plummer will change his name to Oberweis, who after about a dozen tries
finally won.
Reformer may be on to something, Gov. Plummer
a Mel Brooks knock-off work work work.

===Where is Oswego Willy? WILLY? Hey, anyone seen Willy?===
I was out with Willy until late last night, which is one reason why the Fax was so late this morning. Fascinating guy. He’s probably sleeping or in transit.
- walkinfool - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:24 am:
To add to the classless jamokes:
Joe Walsh, in his immediate interview after his concession, blamed it all on Madigan’s map, and wouldn’t admit any shortcomings.
BTW, I was a bit concerned about of Walsh’s touted ground game, but the Duckworth GOTV effort was a thing of beauty. Really superb.
- John A Logan - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:25 am:
Mike Bost is most likely wondering what could have been this morning.
- Lester Holt's Mustache - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:28 am:
Oh thank god. The #IronymakesJasonGrowBigandStrong post might just be the funniest thing I have ever seen on CapFax. We cannot afford the loss of such comedic genius.
- Madison - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:29 am:
Jason meant to call but his campaign team is lining up his nomination effort for POTUS 2016. You people are going to Spell PLUMMER…RESPECT by this time in 2016.
And that WiLLY fella…
- Hopelessly Happy - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:34 am:
As a resident of the 12th C.D., Plummer’s complete lack of class just reaffirms that we rejected a jerk and elected a great man to Congress. Thank goodness!
- langhorne - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:36 am:
the title to this thread says it all. that, plus wacko candidates and weak organization. all that heat and noise and the balance of power stays the same at the federal level. at least the political ads are gone for a while and we can get back to more important things, like helping after sandy….and football.
- wordslinger - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:39 am:
Missed Willy last night. Nice to meet Barton, a fine young man, and Mr. and Mrs. Miller, who are very proud of their son.
Great party. My thanks to Rich and my apologies to all.
I’m especially grateful to the CTA, who must have taken me home.
I ain’t as good as I once was.
- Rich Miller - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:44 am:
Thanks, Word. But, really, stuff happens. I know from experience that open bars can be deadly. Glad you made it home OK.
- Flat-footed - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:48 am:
You guys are brutal. Maybe if Pat Brady had gone anti-Madigan on Enyart, Plummer might’ve had a fighting chance.
- Pot calling kettle - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:50 am:
I picture Jason with his eyes shut tight, fingers in his ears, going “la la la la la la, I can’t hear you, I can’t hear you, la la la la…”
- South of Springfield - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:53 am:
He’s probably trying to decide if he can buy a vacation home with any campaign surplus. Bet he can get a nice 1 bedroom in Collinsville…
- Team Sleep - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:54 am:
I spent some time with Jason last night. It was a bad night in the Metro East. I will say this - is it possible for Jason to maybe call him today? Maybe Jason, his family, his girlfriend, his staff and his friends wanted some time to collect their heads and not have a rushed, angry call. Jason is a hothead. If he needed a few hours to chill and realize this was bigger than just him, I would think that better than a terse “congrats” call to General Enyart.
- IrishPirate - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:55 am:
Someone may have mentioned it somewhere else on a different thread, but I saw Joe Walsh interviewed on ABC7 last night.
As the reporter was interviewing Walsh he acted like a pompous jerk and an anchor could be heard in the background saying something like “classy to the end”.
- OneMan - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 10:56 am:
== You guys are brutal. Maybe if Pat Brady had gone anti-Madigan on Enyart, Plummer might’ve had a fighting chance. ==
The only person that going anti-Madigan worked for was ironically Madigan
- Flat-footed - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 11:03 am:
One theory is that the Plummer clan is planning a coup to overtake State GOP Chair Pat Brady. Any guesses as to which Plummer should be put up? Hint: he has experience as a County GOP chairman.
- shore - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 11:04 am:
“I was out with Willy until late last night, which is one reason why the Fax was so late this morning. Fascinating guy. He’s probably sleeping or in transit.”
Famous last words. As for Mr. Plummer, I don’t know if anyone has ever been washed up in politics at 30, but he’s pretty close to it. In a tv age he just can’t communicate and now he and brady bear the burden for these gerrymanders. Hope your party was good.
- Lester Holt's Mustache - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 11:08 am:
“Jason is a hothead”
This, from a buddy of his! And yet just a few days ago, a couple of people on this board were indignant about our attitudes toward Jason becoming a U.S. congressman. Hmmm…….
- David - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 11:14 am:
== Jason is a hothead.==
Y’think? There’s evidence of this buried very deep from his senior year in college. So deep that it didn’t have time to grow legs. But if he runs for office again …
- Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 11:15 am:
Rich was right, I have been in transit …
Let me get my bearings, and deal with this new reality …
@FakeJasonPlummer - Hey @capitolfax, I want to concede, but as part of my punishment for Losing Congress, I lose my Cell Phone, Cable, and my 2nd dessert at Sunday Dinner #LosingOverAndOverIsABummer
- BMAN - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 11:26 am:
I’ve heard Enyart speak and was impressed. It is nice that a political wannabe didn’t get elected on the coattail of a former boss.
- Skeeter - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 11:47 am:
Anybody else think the retiring Congressman may not be too happy this morning?
- Fun Fun Fun - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 11:47 am:
The last time Jason was on the ballot alone, he won with 34%. So he’s probably trying to figure out why 43% doesn’t work even better.
Party Chair, CD 13, Governor…endless opportunities for Plummer out there.
Oh yeah, all that money they guy supposedly had…did he drop a cent of it into his race?
- Anonymous - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 11:48 am:
so… what Team Sleep is saying is that Jason has no ability to compose himself in the moment and act with dignity and grace?
gotcha.
just one more proof the folks in the 12th got this one right.
- Team Sleep - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 12:32 pm:
Why do concession speeches and courtesy calls have to happen the same evening as a loss? I know we live in the Twitter world, but Jason’s not going to be Congressman, so what does it matter if he waits an extra few hours to call Enyart?!
- wordslinger - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 12:38 pm:
–Why do concession speeches and courtesy calls have to happen the same evening as a loss?–
C’mon man, it’s called class. Gov. Romney showed some last night.
- haverford - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 12:51 pm:
Team Sleep - because it shows you have the deportment to be part of our political process… which Plummer has never had.
(But you’re right, in his case, it doesn’t really matter. He’s done in politics (fingers crossed!))

===If he needed a few hours to chill and realize this was bigger than just him, I would think that better than a terse “congrats” call to General Enyart. ===
And …THAT … is Jason’s Problem … Jason thinking it is all about him, bigger than him, etc.
Jason Lost. The voters REJECTED Jason Plummer. Jason lost by 9 points … that ain’t just a down-ballot miss, that is voters say … “And I am NOT voting for Jason Plummer”.
- Team Sleep -,
You ain’t helping Jason by your post and thinking that way, you are enabling Jason to think he is a relevent member of the ILGOP, a relevent candidate with a strong background, and a relevent member of political society, showing class in defeat.
Jason is everything I think and thought he was, and not conceding reinforces that in spades.
Bad Form Lt. (jg) Plummer … Officers are suppost to exude dignity and class and you, AGAIN, show NONE!
Bad Form, indeed.
- Team Sleep - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 2:12 pm:
Anon 1:23 - I have been around Congressional and Senatorial politics for the better part of a decade. Most Congressmen and Senators think it’s ALL about them - and, in a way, it is. They control their staffs, their budgets and their office operations. Candidates aren’t much different. They have staffs waiting at their beck and call and are the sole focal point for months if not years (in the case of a Presidential candidate or a high-profile Senate candidate like Elizabeth Warren). I’m not defending Jason’s antics but he’s certainly not the first candidate who thought he was going to win, did not win and then was not too happy about said outcome.

He’s following wedding gift etiquette - you have a year from the wedding to hand over your gift (or at least that’s what my wife tells me).
- Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 2:34 pm:
@FakeJasonPlummer - I didn’t concieted, My Dad says I am huble and caring. #JasonDoesntNeedToConceit
- Precinct Captain - Wednesday, Nov 7, 12 @ 3:42 pm:
Looks like he’s finally conceded. At least to the press.
