Will Quinn bring Squeezy with him this morning?

  2. - Plutocrat03 - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 9:10 am:

Should the topic heading be Lame, Lame Duck Session?

  3. - wordslinger - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 9:17 am:

–When you have a spare moment, read “Tied up at the moment” in @ILTimes - and listen to audio of the 911 call http://bit.ly/UtlIcd–

    “Step aside, Butch.”

    911 Dispatch: “Are you okay?”

Father Donovan: “I’m pretty from far from okay.”

Bishop Paprocki: “You leave town tonight, right now, and when you’re gone, you STAY gone or you’ll BE gone. You lost all your Springfield privileges.”

  4. - Bill - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 10:10 am:

Maybe you should try talking to the people who you are trying to screw out of their money, Quinn.
The way to erase the liability is to pay what you owe.

  5. - Bobbysox - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 10:11 am:

Is he open to closing corporate tax loopholes and raising taxes? That would help.

  6. - Bobbysox - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 10:13 am:

How about advocating for a consitutional amendment to allow a graduated income tax?

  7. - Mouthy - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 10:13 am:

    Thanks for the laugh Wordslinger.

Yeah! Doesn’t look like a pension vote today or tomorrow.

  8. - Bill - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 10:15 am:

    Quinn is pathetic.

  9. - Arthur Andersen - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 10:40 am:

word, that has been quite the buzz in Catholic Springfield since the news started to leak out. After the IT put that recording up, Katie bar the door.

  10. - Anonymour - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 10:51 am:

“The last time my blog was whacked by traffic like this was when Blago was arrested.”

The similar level of effectiveness of Blago and Quinn has never been more apparent.

  11. - wordslinger - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 11:16 am:

AA, “c’est la vie say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell…”

  12. - western illinois - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 12:16 pm:

To Ben Yount,Don Moffits wife is a teacher and if she feels about her pension as Mrs Western Illinois does…….

  13. - carbaby - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 1:46 pm:

I’m sorry but after reading the what the response was from legislators on the undocumented driver’s license bill- they really are misinformed about processes currently in place in other State agencies.
I have encountered many undocumented families in the last 15 years in child welfare. When the State and Federal government required fingerprint based background checks several years ago, the families, if they did not have one, obtained ITIN’s(Individual Tax Id Numbers) issued by the IRS- which are 9 digit numbers that look exactly like SSN.
Contrary to what people may think, many of these families have identifying information such as picture identification, have ITIN’s which are trackable through the IRS and have other ways to verify their identity(utility bills, tax returns, pay stubs, leases, rental receipts etc). And many of these same people purchase cars and auto insurance already- we just haven’t allowed them to obtain a driver’s license.

  14. - Kristina - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 3:02 pm:

Appears the appointments to the commission for life.

  15. - Bobbysox - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 3:09 pm:

So, eight people not necessarily responsive to the people have the power to change the pensions plans, diminish benefits, and to raise contributions rates, but they have no ability to raise revenue from any other source.

  16. - Bobbysox - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 3:57 pm:

The only qualification preventing Squeezy from being on the Pension Commission is that he’s too young.

  17. - Just The Way It Is One - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 3:59 pm:

Whatever it takes, let’s get something meaningful toward real pension reform toDAY, ‘cuz, as we all know, tomorrow a whole NEW ballgame begins. C’mon Illinois, R and D, YOU can do it! Do it for US. (”US” is the PEOPLE of our beloved State, by the way)…!

  18. - He Makes Ryan Look Like a Saint - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 6:25 pm:

SB1556 sent to Gov. That is the bill that strips out people from the Union. That was the only Victory I see for the Gov.

  19. - walkinfool - Tuesday, Jan 8, 13 @ 6:26 pm:

Quinn tries to jab the GA for being incapable of pension reform.

    Madigan sideslips and drops him.

Cross continues to sit and watch.

    Radogno’s moves produced confusion.

Cullerton tries to avoid and evade blame.

I don’t know whom to dislike more, today.
