Mental health break

Wednesday, Apr 10, 2013 - Posted by Rich Miller

* For the record, I don’t completely approve of dogs riding in the front seat, but how is this photo of Oscar the puppy not the cutest thing ever?…

And yes, I am a bit obsessed with that dog. I love Oscar, even though he had a little accident on the hardwood floor this morning. Puppies will be puppies, but he’s now got a firm date with training school.

* Also, here’s a video I took yesterday morning. Oscar makes himself comfy

How can you not love this?

A young pup gazing into the distance, his entire future unfolding on the road before him.

  2. - Chic Geek - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 12:50 pm:

Rich my pitbull and I met Oscar’s sister at Washington park last week. Poor baby was scared to death when my big boy was smelling her LOL!Oscar is such a darling! Dogs are a blessing!

Then again, there is the complication that he cannot see over the dashboard.

So let’s go with, “A young pup, happily contemplating his next adventure in world of new sights and smells.”

Rich, they make harnesses that can be used to actually buckle up the dog in the back seat of any car. I have two for my dogs. They ride very well when buckled in.

  5. - Just Me - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 12:53 pm:

If this site becomes an official site to share puppy pictures, then it will be the perfect combination of the two things I love the most in this world: state politics and doggies!

  6. - mr. whipple - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 12:55 pm:

Do you and Oscar go to the same barber?

  7. - Rufus - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 1:20 pm:

    @Just me
At least dogs can accomplished something.

The purest heart featured on Capitol Fax in a long time.

Hardwood floors are pretty easy to clean.

Carpets are much less simple (not to mention when the dog gets ill and messes down the heat vents into the duct work).

  10. - Sgt Schultz - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 1:42 pm:

That is one seriously adorable pup!

  11. - Loop Lady - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 1:43 pm:

good one Mr. Whipple…just adorable Rich, the dog I mean…you are many things to many people, but adorable is not the first thing that comes to mind;)

===Poor baby was scared to death when my big boy was smelling her===

LOL. Well, Oscar has yet to back down from a big dog.

  13. - soccermom - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 2:00 pm:

Gatsby wears a harness. We decided it was a wise investment after my husband had to jam on the brakes to avoid someone who ran a stopsign. Gatsby went flying and knocked a hot coffee onto my husband’s leg. Could have been much worse, for both of them. So we bought the harness, and he’s been riding safely ever since.

At first I thought I had landed on the CapitolDogBlog but then I realized I was right.

    CuteCanine, BTW.

  19. - Mama - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 4:56 pm:

You have a beautiful dog. I’ve been wanting a Wheaton but have not been able to find one in the Springfield area. May I ask where you found Oscar?

  20. - 3rd Generation Chicago Native - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 5:06 pm:

Cute pup, how about regular updates on Oscar?

  21. - Dan Bureaucrat - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 5:28 pm:

I’m am loathe to push play on any internet video. I just don’t do it. But I watched this little fluff monster get his bed and plop himself down.

That is the darn cutest little mop head I’ve ever seen and that’s all I have to say on the matter.

  22. - Maxine - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 5:33 pm:

Enjoy!!! Dogs or baby animals of any kind bring peace of heart and so much joy!

  23. - Just The Way It Is One - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 5:37 pm:

Maybe, like TED, Hollywood should make a SIMilar Movie about OSCAR! Now wouldn’t THAT be an interesting, fun flick to lay down $9 to go see!One thing I’ll say about the shot–boy does he look at TOTAL Peace restin’ up there in frong with his Best Buddy and Master! It’s almost as if your Pup underSTOOD that bein’ up there with you was a Gift/special Privilege of sorts! And having spent a lot of time around dogs in my own life, I have virtually NO doubt that you really made his day!!!

  24. - Just The Way It Is One - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 5:39 pm:

“…up there in FRONT…” Ah, old age must really be starting to set in…!

  25. - Anonymous - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 6:09 pm:

The picture of Oscar made my day. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything so cute. The look on his face is just precious.

  26. - Langhorne - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 6:10 pm:

If oscar tears up your shoelaces, rich, buy replacements for all of your laced shoes. You will need them.

  27. - Langhorne - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 6:13 pm:

A tired puppy is a good puppy.

  28. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 8:21 pm:

How cool is that video? One smart Pup, moving that bed, and plopping down?!

You have a great friend there in Oscar, I know its only going to get better and better for you both.

  29. - Motambe - Wednesday, Apr 10, 13 @ 8:58 pm:

Pensions, budget, gun control, Quinn, Madigan, oh look! A puppy! My favorite post of the day.

  30. - Rich Miller - Thursday, Apr 11, 13 @ 4:57 pm:
