Separated at birth?

* Actor Billy Zane was at the Statehouse today. Reporter Hannah Douglas snapped a quick pic

Wait.

Where have I seen that face? That head? He looks so… familiar.

Ah. That’s it. He looks like Rep. Ron Sandack!…

Discuss.

And go easy on Sandack. He’s a decent guy. We gave him a lot of grief this week, and I feel almost bad about it.

Nah.

What am I thinking?

Have fun.

Billy Zane actually came to Springfield to compete with Rep. Sandack in the audition for the part of Lex Luthor in the next Superman movie.

  3. - Small Town Liberal - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 1:15 pm:

Rep. Sandack - I was ready to take the lead role in the IL GOP, but I withdrew and accepted a supporting role instead. When the whole ship sank I ended up in a life boat, the other guy went down. Kind of reminds me of a movie I once saw…

Candidates for the new Mr. Clean campaign arrive at the statehouse.

  5. - Huh? - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 1:24 pm:

Let me get my sun glasses, the glare of the shiny head is too much.

  6. - OneMan - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 1:29 pm:

Mr. Zane who was in town researching his next direct to DVD role as Bob James who fights to protect Lions becoming Lion McNuggets was disappointed in house members yesterday, however he did feel Rep. Sandack was a powerful and handsome man.

  7. - Kathryn - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 1:34 pm:

    not even close

  8. - ChicagoR - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 1:35 pm:

Zane is in town to try out for the role of Sandack in the upcoming film “The ILGOP: Will the Last One Out the Door Please Turn Out the Lights?”

  9. - Demoralized - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 1:37 pm:

Billy Zane: “Representative Sandak was looking for a stunt double. He reached out to me as an actor. I agreed to come and discuss the role.”

  10. - 47th Ward - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 1:38 pm:

Billy Zane and I were both born in Chicago on the same day. He looks better at 47 than I do, but I think it’s because I have a little more grey hair than he does.

“Rose, you silly girl. You can’t support same sex marriage unless your fiancee tells you to”

Forgive the sexist Titanic reference. I can’t think of any other Zane films.

  12. - Siskel & Ebert - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 1:46 pm:

After Billy Zane explained the ending of “Titanic” to Representative Sandack, Ron Sandack wisely decided to withdraw his bid to become IL GOP state chair.

  13. - So Hot Right Now Hansel - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 1:47 pm:

Listen to your friend, Billy Zane. He’s a cool dude.

–Forgive the sexist Titanic reference. I can’t think of any other Zane films. –

He had a small role in “Tombstone,” one of the “Gunfight at the OK Corral” movies, historic dramas in which the Earps enforce local gun ordinances against the lawbreaking Clantons in old Arizona.

His and many other roles were supposed to be larger, but the director got fired, Kurt Russell took over and cut down the script considerably to keep the studio from shutting down the film.

Still, Val Kilmer got the scene-chewing role of a lifetime as Doc Holliday.

  17. - Amalia - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 2:47 pm:

So now when we call Sandack Zaney, no one will really know what we mean.

  18. - Anonymous - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 2:49 pm:

Not to be “sexist,” but may I suggest that CapFax have more “eye candy” threads for the ladies in future?

Also, does anyone know who has the “greater upper-body strength” of the two?

  19. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 3:32 pm:

“It is I, Lex Luthor, the greatest criminal mind of our time, and I have sent my Clone to make a mockery of this … General …Assembly … and begin, here and now,… my rule… of the world …”

  20. - Charlatan Heston - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 3:34 pm:

And why is Billy Zane in Springfield? Pitching “Sniper 10?” Was Tom Beringer with him?

  21. - Kwame Raoul - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 4:06 pm:

    Hey, what about me?

When talking about powerful and handsome bald men, no one beats Kwame Raoul.

  22. - Just The Way It Is One - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 4:21 pm:

OW wins best comment so far– just classic(assuming most readers know ANYthing about Superman)…!

  23. - Anonymous - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 4:31 pm:

lol Well, Mr. Raoul, you might have a point there. I know quite a few women who very much appreciate men who are handsome, bald…and obviously confident.

While the study results released re: upper-body strength seem legit and merely affirm what many already knew…an abundance of functioning “gray matter” is probably a more desireable trait–and generally (and more surprisingly), much more difficult to find in someone.

(And that last comment was a general observation and had nothing to do with the absolutely charming Mr. Raoul.)

  24. - Anonymous - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 4:33 pm:

My, my…and it’s not even Flirtatious Friday yet. Must be the weather. ;)

  25. - Anonymous - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 4:39 pm:

(But then again, Rich did say “have fun.”)

  26. - Arthur Andersen - Thursday, May 16, 13 @ 4:43 pm:

    Hmmm..off to shave my head.
