The .1%ers have been awfully quiet in their quest to cut (constitutionally guaranteed) government workers pensions. I fear they have been frantically scheming while you took you much deserved time off, but am confident you will discover what they have been planning in just a short bit of time
- Give Me A Break - Wednesday, Sep 11, 13 @ 8:41 am:
As part of the Statehouse rehab, the bill room has been converted to a bar and slots machines have been installed around the rail on the third floor to pay for the new doors.
Well, let’s see. First the earth cooled. And then the dinosaurs came, but they got too big and fat, so they all died and they turned into oil. And then the Arabs came and they bought Mercedes Benzes. And Prince Charles started wearing all of Lady Di’s clothes. I couldn’t believe it.
In what I think was a historic same-day first, last Sunday the Cubs and Sox were both mathematically eliminated from the post-season and the Bears won their home opener.
Woof…. there was a lot of bad Chicago baseball road between Game Six of the Stanley Cup and Bears/Bengals kickoff.
I hope you Cards fans appreciate what you have. You guys rarely get low, certainly not this low.
Karen Lewis, Governor Quinn, Michael Madigan were all in the same room at the Sheraton in Chicago last night at a Madigan sponsored Democratic fund raiser. What I found interesting was who was not in attendance (at least by 6:45 when I left). The event was scheduled to end at 7:00.
Carol Marin wrote that she “liked” Kirk Dillard, but didn’t “like” him in a Facebook kind of way, sort of redefining what Facebook intimacy must be. Editors note; nobody cares.
I swear on a late night cable channel I was watching Dance moms reruns and there was a Rauner commercial on with Lorne Greene screaming Oscar’s name in a prairie by a mountain. Very weird.
- Bill White - thinks finding the districts for Durkin and “Commander Galloway” to target is my responsibility, and there are no districts that can be picked up, not one!
Motorola a company built and founded in Illinois moves to China now back to the US, ends up in Texas. Kind of makes you wonder why we helped fund Motorola for lo these many years they didn’t come back to Illinois.
Apparently all that capitol construction came as a huge shock to our great leader, who now wants to shut the project down.
Or in other words, nothin’.
How have you been doing, Rich?

Someone put nekkid lady statues on the stairs.
Dan Rutherford Tweeted: “I was doing my morning jog around the rotunda today after eating my blueberry granola and saw the new statues. I think one of them would make a swell hood ornament for Pongee”
Kirk Dillard and the IFI held a press conference to denounce “two maidens” for sending the wrong message because God created Adam and Eve and not Eve and Lucille.
Bruce Rauner issued a video saying he believed the people of Illinois ought to decide on public art by popular vote with the time honored binding referendum
Gov Quinn vetoed their pay until they “do their jobs and get a bra. Not one of those fancy French bras like they wore at Versailles, but a modest cheap one like from Sears”
So a $50 million chunk of the governor’s much-ballyhooed capital bill is directed to fixing up the Capitol, and nobody looks at it and says, “Gee, could we maybe make that $45 million?” And it goes through the GOVERNOR’s Office of management and budget, and through the Capital Development Baord (from the website: board members, who serve four-year terms, are appointed by the Governor…” and the governor had nothing to do with it? The buck stops where? Oh right, the bucks never stop.

Mr. Lorimor did a fantastic job.
What did you miss? Gubernatorial candidates will mud-wrestle for charity. They said that since they sling mud, they might as well wrestle in it. The first match is Quinn vs. Rauner. I want to go with Rauner, but Quinn is the comeback kid.
===Karen Lewis, Governor Quinn, Michael Madigan were all in the same room===
Actually I don’t think Madigan actually steps into the room. Shakes everyone’s hand and then takes off.
You are correct Been There. The Speaker never actually entered the room but was still in the outer reception area until at least 6:45 having what looked like some private conversations.
Barton, who obviously knows how to appeal to nerds, dedicated a thread to those of us who speak Klingon. I’ve always liked Barton–especially his “shorts,” but like him even more after he posted that thread.
And Quinn still doesn’t get it. Those of us who wear bras and go for the modest, cheap ones that do not distract and therefore allow the um, “beholder” to stay focused on what’s important, buy them from Wal-Mart.
