This mailer was out last weekend in this neck of the woods. It has been added to the circular file.

  2. - Louis G. Atsaves - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 11:15 am:

Wait until you see the “Goodfellas” mailer . . .

  3. - Stuff happens - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 11:18 am:

The message I get is “My life will be so much more colorful if I vote for the guy without experience.”

  4. - Rich Miller - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 11:18 am:

Despite being an “R3″ (I have almost no contested Democratic primary races in my ‘hood) I’m not getting all that mail. Please send me the Goodfellas pice. Thanks!

  5. - veritas - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 11:20 am:

The $18 watch, the “old Ford”, the hammer, shaking up Springfield & now Wanted Posters - at least he’s staying consistent and believing the voters want gimmickry and not substance.

  6. - LBJ - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 11:20 am:

What?! No bull’s-eye on the other three!? Rauner is getting soft.

  7. - PoolGuy - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 11:24 am:

decent mailer, but a wanted poster makes me immediately think of “dead or alive” which is not implied here. is BR the Lone Ranger?

  8. - Upon Further Review - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 11:25 am:

I did not get out the magnifying glass to sort through the footnotes. I was not sure if Rauner was blaming Brady, Dillard and Rutherford for “voting for more taxes and spending” or if the three were guilty by association merely for holding elected office while this was taking place in Springfield? It seems as if Rauner was painting with a broad brush.

Since the Republicans have been the minority party since 2002 is this really the fault of Brady, Dillard and Rutherford?

    Wanted: Career Hypocrites

  10. - hisgirlfriday - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 11:31 am:

Haven’t seen this one but did see the “CareerFellas” mailer, which is basically this exact mailer but making them out to be mobbed-up crooks, not western outlaws.

But that’s really the worst picture of Dillard they could find?

  11. - Soccermom - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 11:32 am:

Aw, gosh. This reminds me of our wedding anniversary, when Soccerdad and I went to have our picture taken beside the “Term Limits Pledge” plaque. It’s a special place to us. In fact, it’s where we had our first kiss, and where we realized that term limits in California have given Governor Jerry Brown incredible power, because they assure that people who understand how the process actually works get tossed out of the legislature just as they begin to wield the levers of power with some expertise.

  12. - 47th Ward - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 11:32 am:

Ah, there is Mrs. Rauner. We’ll be seeing a lot more of her over the next eight months.

  13. - dogboy - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 11:32 am:

Whatever happened to President Ron’s 11th Commandment - thou shall not speak ill will about a fellow Republican?

  14. - Walter Mitty - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 11:41 am:

47th… I thought..Huh, another guy that married up!

  15. - lake county democrat - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 11:42 am:

Rich, did the question “will you endorse/support the eventual nominee?” come up in any of the debates?

  16. - wordslinger - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 11:42 am:

The dude has dropped millions on career politicians to further his pay-to-play “business.”

Now, they’re bad. Before, when he was making his billion, he was pretty sweet on them.

As a businessman, I’m sure he’ll recommend that the state get out of the useless pinstripe patronage business that landed him his moated penthouse on Central Park West.

A moat. Still can’t get over that.

    Smithers, release the hounds!

  17. - Louis G. Atsaves - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 11:56 am:

Try http://careerfellas.com. The mail piece is sitting at home but this should give you a good idea.

    Louis G. Atsaves - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 11:15 am:

Just got it and I love it!!!

  19. - Demoralized - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 12:08 pm:

Support of term limits isn’t getting my vote. Declarations of being a businessman isn’t getting my vote either. I want to know you can govern and Bruce Rauner has proven to me with his statements that he has no idea how to govern.

  20. - VanillaMan - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 12:42 pm:

Call it whatever names you want, complain about how it is hypocritical and full of lies, denounce it as a travesty - but be smart and honest enough to recognize that Rauner’s message was the one to use in this campaign. He will win with it.

The others could have done the same, but they didn’t listen to voters. Rauner may have won - but the other three LOST. If the politicians who used Rauner and other multimillionaires as ATMs every two years, either delivered what they promised or showed a way for Illinois to have a brighter future - this wouldn’t have happened.

The Three Losers are in office. They could have made a change over the past two decades each of them have been in office. They could have campaigned earlier and with the right message. They didn’t.

Rauner is going to win and it is time to wake up and recognize how he won - and stop bad mouthing it.

Adopt it if you can and make it work for you.

  21. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 12:55 pm:

Rauner Mail - more about more money than what to do with, as opposed to Statewide candidates who find themselves with “What do do with so little money?”

Rauner’s Crew will spare no expense; like Jurassic Park, and the creatures are just as lethal.

  22. - in the know - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 12:55 pm:

most if not all of the tax and spend footnotes in this piece relate to George Ryan’s Build Illinois plan. I hope Republican GA members remember that when he comes asking for a loyalty vote. And the “Goodfellas” quote is about a close to copyright theft as I’ve seen in a campaign, right down to the “quote” from the opening scene of the movie. Also, if they weren’t public officials, the comparison to gangsters would make a nifty defamation lawsuit. But who cares about such niceties.

  23. - Living in Machiaville - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 12:58 pm:

Goodfellas is a great piece. Even my wife, who typically ignores such things had to look it over closely. She thought it was well done.

  24. - circularfiringsquad - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 1:15 pm:

Hey who it the hotty all wrapped up in Mitt’s windbreaker?

  25. - circularfiringsquad - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 1:24 pm:

have you seen Mitt’s election nite invite…cash “bleeping golden” bar yikes

  26. - Mr. T. - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 1:58 pm:

Wait till BR finds out he is not wanted.
Should of spent millions more on his election hobby.

  27. - Walker - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 2:03 pm:

Excellent piece, with a simple message that will resonate and expand positive awareness. Might not work forever, but good for now.

    With VMan on this one.

  28. - Chavez-respecting Obamist - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 2:31 pm:

I prefer career politicians running things to some guy in a Carhartt jacket threatening to cut off money to social programs because they don’t turn a profit.

That is what ‘run the state like a business’ means, isn’t it?

  29. - Moving on - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 2:32 pm:

I’d sure hate to see what “less spending” means for the children Rauner’s wife advocates for at the Ounce of Prevention…apparently that’s not of much concern, given that she’s grinning ear to ear on the mail piece.

Actually just finishing what he started in the most competently run campaign in a long time or maybe ever. You’re shadow boxing Willie. You just want whatever you think or say to be true. It’s not an intellectual pursuit for you anymore. It’s blather. I’ll save you the trouble:
    Signed,
Apologist, Raunerbot, Raunerite, unethical, no values, etc.

  31. - Ghost - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 3:15 pm:

If term limits is a good idea, shouldn’t Rauner have left his job after 8 years?

But he will run govt like a business… in business you seek to hire people with the most experience and offer them generous financial packages to do their jobs… say like paying Mr. Levine a cool million to bring in business. So how does term limits and cutting worker pay equate to a small business? Maybe Rauner is thinking about how you can buy a business, say a nursing home, cut the wages of staff and downgrade experienced caregivers and replace them with minimum wage folks…. move the money into your own pocket while those dependent on you suffer from the lack of experienced caregivers. So basically by saying he wants term limits and to run the State like a business, Rauner is saying he is opposed to experienced people, doesnt want to pay experienced people wages reflecting their background and knowledge, and will move money into his own pocket at the expense of everyone else.

  34. - Langhorne - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 3:58 pm:

No GOTV by rauner, so blanket cutesy mailers. Weak, but he doesnt need more than one third of undecideds

  35. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 4:00 pm:

===Actually just finishing what he started in the most competently run campaign in a long time or maybe ever.===

    Hyperbole. “Ever”? Jeez Louise.

===You’re shadow boxing Willie. You just want whatever you think or say to be true.===

What does that mean? Plain English is acceptable in trying to make a point.

===It’s not an intellectual pursuit for you anymore. It’s blather.===

    Again, “whaaa?”

You are starting down borderline “Troll” territory…

  36. - CollegeStudent - Tuesday, Mar 11, 14 @ 7:40 pm:

Businessmen ARE career politicians. The sooner we as a society come to grips with this, the better off we will be.
