Heartwarming stuff, but is too long to keep most viewers attention. Strong message about Quinn fighting the bureaucrats. Cute kids and cupcakes always sell. I give it a C+ because it’s too long; if they shorten it it could easily be a B+.
“We didn’t exactly believe your story, Mr. Rauner; we believed your $53 million dollars you made last year…I mean, you made more than all of us the, to tell the truth, and enough more to make it all ‘right, exactly right,…”
- Larry the Cable Guy - Tuesday, Jun 17, 14 @ 9:44 am:
Right here we have a governor who supports family businesses, while the other guy wants to run the state like a “bidness” and says he has no interest in people issues. But with Sen. Kyle tea party McCarter in the background? Now that there was funny.
- William j Kelly - Tuesday, Jun 17, 14 @ 9:45 am:
If this election comes down to ‘niche voters’ I would have to say Quinn just won by 99% to Rauner’s 1%!;)))
It’s too long for the subject matter, and there’s a lot of distracting background noise.
The Governor’s advance team should know that events like these will require videos, and plan accordingly. It might have been better to send the video folks there ahead of time to do the interview with the little girl before it got so noisy.
The concept is great. I don’t think anyone watches these videos but there are the makings of a great spot there.
Are you kidding? Metro East, beautiful kid, good-looking young family, small business, beating those darn bureaucrats, cupcakes…. and Quinn in the middle of it all, in their home, as the hero.
Quinn saw an opportunity and grabbed this issue from Obie. What a great stroke of fortune for him that the family played ball.
Everyone who thinks it’s too long, I invite you to watch other short docs on the web. 2 mins is pretty par for course. I agree some icing could be trimmed off this video but who trims off the icing on a cupcake? This isn’t an AD, it’s a web video and should be treated as such. I give it an A overall.
The issue is not the number of minutes. The issue is whether it felt too long.
There’s a really cute 1-minute video in here — I’d edit it down until I get there. Governor. Kid. Family busieness. Cupcakes. Bam.

Demoralized, just between you and me, I am sure you thought it was equally insensitive and despicable that roeser never missed an opportunity to tell me I was corrupt because my deceased father had been a Chicago public school employee, am I right?
@FakeJimOberweis - Whaaat happened? I just helped Pat Quinn? Bruce is defiantly not going to call me back #MeltingRaunerSupport #LeftInTheCold #RichCreamyIrony.
WillJKelly. Not sure if we agree on much, but I find no problem with your post. He was a flamethrower, but also did a lot for charities. Never too soon
Several republicans in the background: Rep. Charlie Meier, Sen. Kyle McCarter and Troy Mayor Allen Adomite. I even saw Sens Haine and Claiborne. Not sure why there were there, other than a cheap photo op with the guv. Charlie Meier is the one who introduced the bill and fought for it. The Dems tried to gut it and add regulations, but finally relented when they were called out for their ridiculousness. Then, predictably, Quinn swings in on a chandelier and claims credit.
- William j Kelly - Tuesday, Jun 17, 14 @ 12:47 pm:
Demoralized, it must be awesome to have the power to decide who the dopes or jackasses are or when it’s ‘enough.’ I really wish I could have had that special power myself back when roeser was attacking my recently deceased father.
Too long, but everyone likes to have a cute girl win against the bureaucrats. Maybe we can sell cupcakes to fill the budget holes, but I’m sure some nutritionist will complain about the hight amount of added sugar.
Is Chloe really the “number one cupcake purveyor in Illinois”? Or is Gov. Quinn engaging in a bit of campaign hyperbole?
Cute family and cute video but way too long and too typically full of PQ babble-speak.
- Just The Way It Is One - Tuesday, Jun 17, 14 @ 7:18 pm:
All in all, just a really happy event for Chloe, her family, gathered friends, and as the child herself noted, ALL such Home Bakers in her shoes in a cottage industry that mostly just exists to make people smile, help others, and maybe make a few dollars for spending money, (or perhaps toward a future “College Fund” for Chloe herself)!
Indeed, Pat Quinn benefits too, to be sure, and this “Feel Good” Ad, whether you care for the Governor or not, will only prove to be a + for him because, once again, it portrays PQ as the Nice guy, Uncle Pat, your friendly Next Door Neighbor who may not have mowed his lawn this week but who’ll watch out for you in the Neighborhood, the “Man of the People,” who fights for simple things in life which are important to the “little guy,” or in this case “little gal” by doing the right thing. There’s just really no way around granting him an “A” for not only the Commercial, but for avidly backing the entire Measure from the Get Go…!
- Just Oberving - Tuesday, Jun 17, 14 @ 9:27 am:
Overall pretty good video — maybe a bit too long — 99.9 percent of the electorate will never see it. But positive, upbeat, etc. I give it an A-minus.

Gov. Cupcake, getting the job done! Very sad that is all he has to talk about. C

“C+ ”
Would have graded way higher, but the line, “Gov. Quinn worked with Chloe…”
That line made me think of the counter to this great ad immediately;
“While Gov. Quinn can work with children to pass Bills, Pat Quinn ignores the adult problems facing Illinois.”
Yikes.
Maybe too sweet to consume without major cavity in his leadership teeth.

1. If there is no state inspection/regulation, how do we know if the girl has cooties?
2. Rauner should capitalize on the one thing more trendy/annoying than cupcakes, frozen yogurt.
3. What idiot made the call to shut her down?
4. Too long
5. PQ should know by now it is rude to talk with food in one’s mouth.
