For subscribers, blog readers and phone users
Thursday, Aug 7, 2014 - Posted by Rich Miller * Some folks who subscribe by G-Mail are reporting that they’re not receiving their subscriptions. The problem is that G-Mail is sending the Capitol Fax into spam. So, please, check your spam folder. * CapitolFax.com was slammed this morning by four IP addresses attempting to exploit an obscure security flaw. The attack made the site almost unreachable. We’ve blocked the addresses and are working on the problem. * I went ahead and got the Samsung Galaxy S5 last night. Then I somehow messed up my alarm settings for this morning and woke up really late. It’s been one of those days, campers. I really like the phone, but it’ll be awhile before I can figure out the intricacies of the operating system. I’ve been an IOS user ever since the first iPhone was released.

It will take some getting used to. You will totally love the phone after a little time. My S5 Sport is the bomb!

Welcome to the Dark side.

I know a guy who posts hundreds of times per day starting at 6am who could give you a “wake-up” call until you get your tech straight.

I noticed the blog slowing down yesterday and this morning it wouldn’t load at all. But, I’m having problems with the Trib’s new website, so I didn’t think it was a cyber attack against the Fax, thought it was my ISP.

Make sure you contact Apple to deactivate your Apple ID from your iphone. If you don’t, you will not be able to receive SMS messages from previous iphone users because the phone number on your contact ID is still listed as being able to send imessages. Hence you will not receive text messages from iphone users.

Alarm function works, but you have to make sure you set it up. Use the clock icon, and you can set it up to repeat weekly, M-F and a separate time for the weekend. I put mine on my first screen, now I don’t have to hunt for it.
Good choice on the 5!

-Almost the Weekend - is right. You can also put your sim card into an iPhone (doesn’t have to be yours) and turn of iMessages. I had to do this when I switched from iPhone to S4. Kind of a pain, but once it’s done, it’s done.

Guy, your obsession with Willy is bordering on creepy. Maybe you should find a hobby.

Jimbo, lol, how do you know I wasn’t talking about you?
Aw shucks, you caught me. lol. Responding to him at all is grudging respect. I don’t love the guy, but I don’t mind sparring with him either. If you get creepy out of that, I need to ask what your hobbies are? lol

Guy, I saw your nice response on the other post and felt bad about giving you trouble here.
I did know you weren’t talking about though. I need a few cups of coffee before I can read about state government and politics, and I’m just pouring my first cup at 6:30.

That was supposed to be “talking about me though’. Also the creepy bit was for effect. I don’t actually think you have a creepy obsession with Willy, I just found it odd that you mentioned him here.

I think it’s not only SMS, but email that won’t work either for awhile. Many people have gotten frustrated by this and go back to iPhone. I pretty sure that is apples intention.

Any chance you are going to let us know what the “four IP addresses” (surely spoofed) or the “obscure security flaw” (wp plugin?) are?

No harm brother, we’re good.

I like you. I don’t take things personal as you do I guess.
I could argue with you, and have a beer with you, as it use to be in the GA. Too bad you can’t look past that.

Post up some pics and a short video on Oscar and you’ll be amazed how much better they (should) look.

OK, Willie, since you didn’t try to go down the Pinot Grigio or Lite beer road, I think we can build on this. We’re gonna disagree several times daily from now until the end of our natural lives. I don’t take any of this personally or I’d be under my desk in the fetal position. Keep sparrin’. It’s a lively exchange; sometimes heated. I’m more offended by calling a lovely woman “Slip and Sue” than calling me a Horse’s ***. One is slanderous, the other is occasionally true. lol.
Rabbit punches now and again, but nothing under the belt. I’ve got a good feeling and some inner peace about this.
