IFT launches fall mail program
Monday, Sep 8, 2014 - Posted by Rich Miller * The Illinois Federation of Teachers says this mailer will be sent to all member households in the state (about 100,000) this week. This is the “first of many, and in addition to an unprecedented ground game and member-to-member program.” Keep in mind that the IFT polled its members and this is only going to member households. It’s not designed for mass consumption, so rate it for what it is, please. You can click the pics for a larger, pdf version… ![]()

lol, they reference you Rich, you’re famous now!

Quinn wants to cut pensions, too. He signed a bill that did so–one that will be found to be unconstitutional.

lol
Rauner sent out a fundraising mailer last month which basically just reprinted one of my Crain’s columns. I forgot to post it.

^ Yeah see, famous guys forget stuff like that. lol

To the post: Maybe a C-plus.
Teachers are going to have a hard time voting for a pension thief and a guy who gutted the public schools in New Orleans. The message here may help get them to the polls, but it’s going to take more than a mailer.

In case the teachers need a reminder for them and their families, it’s a decent reminder to get out and vote. I can imagine that most teachers early vote.
I’d go with a B.
- Walter Mitty - Monday, Sep 8, 14 @ 12:28 pm:
I think it’s a reminder that rank and file may not be on the same page as their “bosses” teachers have been punching bags in this economy downturn. I know plenty of rank and file that wish they were allowed to be below the radar… Ain’t happening. The typical refrain is..we paid our share. The voters don’t care at this point. They are set to be collateral damage no matter who wins. Which is a shame.
- Slow Down - Monday, Sep 8, 14 @ 12:34 pm:
Exposing Rauner’s exceptionally negative union rhetoric to union households seems pretty effective to me.
- Mouthy - Monday, Sep 8, 14 @ 12:37 pm:
The IFT should be sitting this one out and quit wasting the member’s dues money because it’s a battle between someone that’s made dumb statements and a governor that’s vilified pension earners and done about everything he could do to steal part of their pensions. The reason you’re seeing this flyer from the IFT is many of it’s officials are also Democrat operatives which means they have no problem giving member’s dues money to someone hosing their members. (this is from a former local president)
- Walter Mitty - Monday, Sep 8, 14 @ 1:16 pm:
Mouthy… Made my point much better.
- walker - Monday, Sep 8, 14 @ 2:27 pm:
I will work a bit, but I don’t think it will make much difference. My guess that motivated voters in the IFT are going Quinn’s way anyway.
- Precinct Captain - Monday, Sep 8, 14 @ 2:29 pm:
Right Mouthy, the IFT should sit this one out and we all should invite people who want to murder us into our homes.
- wordslinger - Monday, Sep 8, 14 @ 2:59 pm:
The teachers know the Supremes have their backs on pensions. It’s not that hard to see Rauner as a bigger threat to set up more scores for his hedgie buddies with charter schools.

If everybody wants to do you in wouldn’t it be prudent to just lock your doors and not let anyone in?
- low level - Tuesday, Sep 9, 14 @ 6:25 am:
That’s what we do by voting, mouthy.
By the way, there is no such thing as “Democrat” operatives. There are “Democratic” operatives. Your use of the former is an old Gingrich discredited phrase.
Nice try though.
