A sure-fire cure for the grumpies
Tuesday, Sep 23, 2014 - Posted by Rich Miller * As always at this point in the campaign cycle, things are starting to get a bit testy in comments. How about an Oscar the Puppy video to lighten the mood? Oscar loves going for rides…

Thank you for this dose of happiness, Dr. Miller.

Looks like maybe it’s time to hide the keys. He’s more than a little jazzed about the ride. Won’t be long before he sneaks the car.
- OneMan - Tuesday, Sep 23, 14 @ 2:36 pm:
unlike the ads, this one is better with the audio on…

I’ll help by putting out one of my song parodies!
Nothin’ From Nothin’ - Billy Preston, corrupted by VanillaMan
Nothin’ from nothin’ leaves nothin’
We’re gonna tax somethin’ no matter how you vote, you’ll see
Nothin’ from nothin’ leaves nothin’
Governments need somethin’, nothin’ is ever free
Rauner:
I’m just tryin’ to be a Hero, or Nero, so listen to me
Although I’m rich, here’s a switch
Illinois is in a deep ditch
‘So this time please vote for me, yeah
Nothin’ from nothin’ leaves nothin’
And we gotta have something, money doesn’t grow on trees
Don’t you remember I told ya
I’ll freeze your property taxes and fees
Quinn:
I might govern weaker, but Mr. Speaker, is my boss you see
Although I like to ramble, and our state is a shamble
I’m very much poorer than he
Nothin’ from nothin’ leaves nothin’
And when you do something, you shouldn’t do it for free
If I am reelected, I won’t be misdirected
I’ll raise the minimum wage for a trainee
Both:
Nothin’ from nothin’ leaves nothin’
We’re gonna say somethin’ to get your vote, you’ll see
Nothin’ from nothin’ leaves nothin’
And that’s Illinois, right down to a tee!

Vanilla Man, we have all been waiting for a good old song parody for ages now. You should not have started that! Now the masses will demand a song a day! As far as Oscar goes, my dog goes bezerk in the mornings, licks my face till I get up then whines at the door until we go for our usual walk around the local farm pond. good call on the video rich. It was needed!
- Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Sep 23, 14 @ 3:08 pm:
Oscar always makes me smile.
Thanks for perspective, both Rich and Oscar!
- Archiesmom - Tuesday, Sep 23, 14 @ 3:17 pm:
Thank God I have my three beasts when the going gets tough. My Westie girl is programmed to smooch as needed.

My pets/friends/companions put me in the same mood. Get me out of the reality of the daily drudgery of worrying about politics and issues and let me deal with something I can connect to on a one to one basis. Sometimes I think Max and Oscar are the only ones that understand me and agree with me! Thank you for the post.
- illini - Tuesday, Sep 23, 14 @ 3:43 pm:
Should have clarified - my “Oscar” is a 14 year old rescue cat and my Max is a 12 year old rescued mix breed 40 lb.dog ( Spitz and Chow supposedly, but who knows for sure ). Guess who is in charge in this house and it is not the dog!
Be thankful for your companions and take care of them as though they are family - actually they are!
- Streator Curmudgeon - Tuesday, Sep 23, 14 @ 4:25 pm:
If Oscar had been raised in Chicago, he wouldn’t be so eager to go for a ride.
- dupage dan - Tuesday, Sep 23, 14 @ 4:59 pm:
Does Oscar say much? You say walk or drive with my dog (fairly quiet) and he will wax poetic. Oscar is clearly excited but no barking. Does he let RM do his press releases?

I feel so much better now! Such adorableness.
