Oh boy lets see if com ed sticks it to us this fall

  2. - GV - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 2:54 pm:

    Mike by a mile!

  3. - Homer - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 3:19 pm:

This ain’t over yet. Tom Cross, who pushed so-called “tort reform” for years in the House, is about to have a change-of-heart about the importance of courts in protecting our rights. In this case, it’s his right to hold a political office, despite more people voting for the other guy. He’s going to ask some Sangamon County court to make them stop counting all these darn votes for Frerichs.
He’ll still oppose your right to seek justice in Illinois courts when you’ve been harmed by a corporation. But at least it’s some small progress! Justice for Tom Cross, but none for you!

  4. - Rhino Slider - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 3:30 pm:

Am I the only one that sees this. Frerichs will win by at least 5000. Chicago and Cook still have big numbers to report. Frerichs will wipe the floor with Cross here.

  5. - Formerly Known As... - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 3:32 pm:

AP reporting the Danville Election Commissioner is retiring.

== DANVILLE, Ill. (AP) — The longtime director of the Danville Election Commission is stepping down weeks after Republicans scrutinized how ballots were handled.

Barbara Dreher tells The (Champaign) News-Gazette she was considering retiring later, but this month’s election was stressful with policy changes. She says her last day is Tuesday.

Dreher came under fire for processing absentee ballots ahead of the election, something some jurisdictions have done for years. But Republicans objected and filed a lawsuit in Rock Island County alleging mail-in votes were opened early

Attorney General Lisa Madigan issued an opinion saying no counting should start until polls close on Election Day. However, she didn’t offer clarification on processing, when they’re opened and scanned into a tabulation machine.

Clerks said waiting to do so until polls close would mean delays. ==

Can someone who has seen this pattern before comment about whether so many votes dribbling in for so long is normal. It just seems downright bizarre. Glad with the outcome and that Mike is benefitting, but totally bizarre.

  7. - Rich Miller - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 3:39 pm:

=== so many votes dribbling in for so long is normal===

It’s not abnormal, you just never noticed it before.

  8. - Jaded - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 3:43 pm:

=Am I the only one that sees this. Frerichs will win by at least 5000.==

No you’re not. Go back to the over under question last week. Several of us called it big for Frerichs.

  9. - Tim - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 3:45 pm:

Is there a live stream for the SB16 hearing? The link on the ILGA site is busted - gives me an error.

  10. - Jaded - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 3:47 pm:

    Tim,
GA site is working. I am listening right now.

  11. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 3:51 pm:

    1500 is still the “Number”…

Will County is an ominous sign or an anomaly?

  12. - Mike's Earmuffs - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 3:57 pm:

    I, for one, am shocked!

As a devoted follower of the faux Frerichs Twitter feed, I was convinced Tom Cross was running an unbeatably professional & grown-up kind of campaign. (I kid.)

Still, polls said Cross was supposed to win this. (I know nothing’s official, but make no mistake — that’s a fat lady you hear singing. Cross lost this one as of today.) So what happened?

Was it the candidate or the campaign? How did this happen to a guy who was supposed to win big, even before we knew it was a GOP year?

  13. - Jaded - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 3:59 pm:

==It’s not abnormal, you just never noticed it before.==

Actually Rich, I am being told that the large number of provisional ballots is a direct result of the Dem same day registration push, so it might be a little abnormal.

  14. - Statistics behind Human Sorting and Counting - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 4:09 pm:

Why humans need to be taken out of the sort process and inevitably whoever win can by no means be confindent that they actually won.

  15. - AC - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 4:17 pm:

I’ll bet Mike Frerichs is standing tall today. Seriously, less politically aware people I know have said, “you think the guy who had the goofy ad rescuing a cat from a tree is going to win?” Looks like the answer is, Yes, but you couldn’t describe the winner if this close of a race as being heads and shoulders above his opponent. Looks like this one is headed for the courts, lets hope it gets resolved quickly.

  16. - mike - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 4:18 pm:

At the rate the vote tally is going, Gov. Quinn may very well be re-elected. ;) Anyone have a link to updated results?

  17. - Rich Miller - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 4:19 pm:

=== Anyone have a link to updated results?===

You’re on it now, dude. Nobody else has these. But you can also go here http://illinoiselectiondata.com/projects/2014TreasGenTrackChanges.php

  19. - Toure's Latte - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 5:01 pm:

With DuPage, Winnebago and Sangamon in the barn it’s all over but the stamping of tiny Two-Putt feets.

  20. - Yellow Dog Democrat - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 5:06 pm:

    Oswego Willy:

If you look at the DuPage County total for Cross, I’d say Will County and Aurora were harbingers.

    YDD

  21. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 5:10 pm:

    - YDD -,

Once everything but Cook and Chicago, then we can see what the spread my run out to.

  22. - Results - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 5:11 pm:

So is cook and Chicago still outstanding? Does frerich hammer cross there? Gain a couple thousand?

  23. - Amalia - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 5:19 pm:

thanks so much for posting the election results in Scribble. this is absolutely riveting!

  24. - Chicago Cynic - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 5:26 pm:

    3000 votes!! Go Mike go!

  25. - 1776 - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 5:29 pm:

Bad day for the Artl family.

  26. - Norseman - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 5:32 pm:

Start packing Tom. It doesn’t look like you’ll have an office in the Capitol anymore.

  27. - train111 - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 5:33 pm:

Two putt got a bogey on those Cook County Suburban results

  28. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 5:46 pm:

After all of these years, I am starting to think Artl is a double agent for MJM.

  29. - Results - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 5:52 pm:

Still well with the error, but will people still finance a recount since it’s several thousand instead of hundreds?

  30. - Amalia - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 6:40 pm:

Will County Sheriff’s results flipped to D also.

  31. - What's in a name? - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 6:59 pm:

No one commented on Rich running out of ad space. would Congrat’s be in order? Sounds like a happy problem. I seem to recall something about supply and demand.

  32. - Rich for treasurer! #upgrade - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 7:15 pm:

I agree looks like you’ve got great financial management skills Rich, maybe you should’ve run for Treasurer!

  33. - Wordslinger - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 7:26 pm:

Why isn’t the U.S.attorney on this, as he has nothing better to do, as the J
U.S. Senator with nothing better to do told us.

Seriously, though, Über with the “$192 million economic impact” claim? Don’t go nuts, folks. The cabbies could use the formula for your “impact” and bury you.

  34. - Arthur Andersen - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 9:09 pm:

Looks like OW and “Two-Putt” will be spending more time on the links next Spring.

  35. - G'Kar - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 10:24 pm:

Anybody know if the final tally for the Mautino-Long race?

  36. - A. Nonymous - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 10:25 pm:

    @ Anonymous - Tuesday, Nov 18, 14 @ 5:46 pm:
“After all of these years, I am starting to think Artl is a double agent for MJM”

Artl just might know as much about sockpuppetry as Tom “Sore Loser” Cross knows about golf.
