That’s a strong first ad. It has a great positive message.

    I give it a B+/A-.

the suntimes shouldn’t just do stories on Rahm’s website and his commercial, no, I think it would be interesting for natasha korecki to do a story on Rahm’s paypal account. Really! I am not joking! Natasha should do a story on how people cane find the donate botton on Rahm’s website, that would be real journalism. Btw, just in case the suntimes doesn’t do a story on my website or commercial here it is. Williamjkellyforchicago.com http://youtu.be/A1v9M9cMpJw

Like many here, whenever Bill Kelley posts, I think of the following:

Ok! ok!I was joking about natasha doing a story on Rahm’s Paypal account but just in case she does a braking news story on RAHMS PAYPAL anyway here is a link to my Paypal. Williamjkellyforchicago.com

Strong pass. And…an indication he takes Chuy a lot more serious than Fioretti. He’s going after the natural base of Chuy. Probably a very smart pre-emptive move.

    @Gooner Whenever I see Goomer’s posts I think of this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvb1t29lJAA

  7. - Gooner - Wednesday, Nov 19, 14 @ 10:36 am:

    Admin,

That’s because you are not a Gooner. Hence, you confuse “Gooner” and “Goomer.”

You know, you really ought to, ought to be, a, Gooner. Then you would understand.

  8. - Admin - Wednesday, Nov 19, 14 @ 10:49 am:

@Gooner/Goner/Goomer/Gomer - not the least bit confused. Every time I see your posts - I think Gomer Pyle. I’d work on that if I were you.

    @A guy:

    Right on the money.

I think it’s a strong ad and rate it an A. I didn’t know about the coal plants, but that’s on me.

Gooner, thanks for sharing the Monty Python “Spam” video. My friends and I were really into that show back in the day.

  11. - Admin - Wednesday, Nov 19, 14 @ 10:56 am:

Nice of the Chicago Sun-Times to run another “ad” for Rahm. Loved their “help wanted” ad story on Rahm’s petitions back in September.

  12. - Gooner - Wednesday, Nov 19, 14 @ 10:59 am:

    A Guy,

Good point. I didn’t catch the choice of neighborhood right away.

As soon as Fioretti lost his ward, his only hope was that Karen would take a pass, and that he would be the only challenger.

When Chuy got in, Fioretti lost any reason for people to support him. I can’t imagine the Mayor’s team is too worried about Fioretti.

Assuming Chuy gets on the ballot (and with CTU support I fully expect that to happen), he’s going to make this a real race.

The Mayor has all the money in the world, but I don’t find many people who approve of the job he’s done. The press has been pretty brutal on him. You would think Chicago had a balanced budget and was crime free before he took office.

It is going to be an interesting campaign.

Gooner, any idea how many brendon Riley’s live in the 42nd ward? The answer is more than one. Interestingly, you’re not one of them, are you? No really, are you? Wouldn’t it be really weird if three people filed for alderman in the 42nd ward and two of them were named Brendon Riely? How weird would that be goonerer?

  14. - A guy... - Wednesday, Nov 19, 14 @ 12:25 pm:

If you think the AA pastors are voting commodity brokers, just wait until you experience the Latino political leaders. Far less subtle. Money will mean a lot in this race. A lot. Chuy better get some.

  15. - West Side the Best Side - Wednesday, Nov 19, 14 @ 1:02 pm:

It’s hard enough getting out of bed when it’s cold and dark out - but then to have to see this ad on WGN before 0630. Can’t we get at least a month break between political ads. This is interfering with holiday car ads suggesting you surprise your spouse with a new car in the driveway with a bow on it.

  16. - A guy... - Wednesday, Nov 19, 14 @ 1:20 pm:

Westie, buy your old lady a car for Christmas. Then whine.

@ admin, whenever I see Gooner, I think of this…..

http://www.arsenal.com/home Let’s go Gunners, beat United.

the commercial is an A. Identifies the woman speaking by on screen name, name is Jewish, she looks Hispanic, from Pilsen speaking about an environmental issue. humanizing. wonderful commercial. policy oriented.

  18. - uptown progressive - Wednesday, Nov 19, 14 @ 1:55 pm:

Rahm knows he will win. He is working to win big. Keep it positive. Include everyone. The guy actually does the warm and caring thing well up close.

  19. - Under Further Review - Wednesday, Nov 19, 14 @ 2:36 pm:

Fossil fuels are bad! No coal mining in Southern Illinois. No coal fired plants in Chicago. US Senator Dick Durbin (D) cast the deciding vote against building the Keystone Pipeline that would have created jobs for Wood River, Illinois.

    Go Green!

  20. - Wordslinger - Wednesday, Nov 19, 14 @ 4:35 pm:

UFR, when you live next door to a coal-fired plant, you’ll have some cred.

Didn’t take much to trot out the Keystone talking points. That’s such a Washington issue, sound and fury, signifying nothing. Has absolutely nothing to do with the reality of the energy industry.

In case you hadn’t noticed, we’re in an oil boom, with domestic production up 80 percent since 2008. That’s a lot. U.S. refineries are a net exporter of petroleum products.

And coal is going south because along with the oil comes with natural gas, which is a lot cheaper and cleaner.

  21. - Under Further Review - Wednesday, Nov 19, 14 @ 4:53 pm:

    Been there, done that, Word.

Are you prepared to close all of the coal fired plants used by Com Ed?

Check the polls. The American public favors the Keystone pipeline.

Thank Durbin for giving up the Democratic US Senate seat in Louisiana too.

  22. - Under Further Review - Wednesday, Nov 19, 14 @ 5:00 pm:

As of 2014, 40% of the energy generated by ComEd is from coal.

  23. - Wordslinger - Wednesday, Nov 19, 14 @ 5:16 pm:

UFR, you can hit the talking points. But Keystone is small potatoes. It’s just a funder rallying cry.

There is a Keystone pipeline in the U.S. already, you know? Stretches into Illinois, too. The reason for that is beause it’s a whole lot tougher to get one built from Alberta to the British Columbia ports.

Coal plants are being converted to gas all over the country, including in Illinois. Why does that bother you?

  24. - William Strong - Wednesday, Nov 19, 14 @ 6:58 pm:

The strategy is there - starting off with community activists to serve as validators - but execution is way off.

It takes forever to get to the point. On first watch, it seems like a PSA which is good to an extent but this spot doesn’t get to the point quick enough and will lose the viewer’s interest. It’s great to use a validator but the interview is all over the place (just like the webspot they released a couple months ago that was all over the map). They should have cut and rearranged the interview to make it more message driven. It just seems lazy to me.

And what’s the shiny reflection in Rahm’s face during the b-roll section? A good camera man wold have caught that during the shoot.

I expect a lot more out of AKPD.

  25. - Under Further Review - Wednesday, Nov 19, 14 @ 9:20 pm:

    Solyndra…

  26. - Wordslinger - Thursday, Nov 20, 14 @ 7:31 am:

UFR, now you’re just barking random Fox talking points, lol.

You realize the post is about the mayor’s race?
