I note from a 3rd Grade teacher to a parent might be able to … explain … Mr. Kelly;

He was too busy posting garbage about Rauner instead of collecting signatures. Also, the interview with Mike Flannery exposed the fact that Kelly had no grasp of any issue facing Chicago other than his hatred for Rahm.

Who now is going to humor us in the race?
Oswego Willy, you are right on the money!
Speaking of least surprising headlines, I loved the Sun-Times front page “investigative” piece from last Friday in which they breathlessly reported that a Democratic committeeman (Madigan) actually circulated nominating petitions for an incumbent Democratic mayor! What’s next, a four part expose on the sun setting in the West? Who says good old-fashion newspaper journalism is dead.
And now I really do believe he was simply there to break the fundraising caps for Rahm. Hmmm. If he’s out of the race, are the caps still broken? I think so.
I would suspect that if you create a committee for a race officially and bust a cap, it is busted even if you do not end up on the ballot…
Otherwise how would you deal with a guy who gets tossed off the ballot? I would think once a cap is declared ‘busted’ it stays in that state regardless…
Mr Kelly may not be the political maven he seeks to be, but he was part of a half way decent band once!
Anyone know exactly what he does for a living?
My oldest daughter (24) laments that she’s not a “trust fund baby”. She told me that she could adapt to that lifestyle very well. Had she been so fortunate, I wonder if she’d use her time and treasure the same way as Mr Kelly? NAAAAAAAAAH!
What a terrible, text-book example of a narcissist with low self-esteem. He so desperately wanted the light to shine on himself that he came across looking like a sad creature. And who honestly believes that he has the means to follow through on his new venture?
He should provide a copy of his pac’s bank statement showing deposit of the 100 grand. Then maybe someone would believe it exists. As most on here would know, the state board of elections requires no documentary support. It’s largely the honor system for contributions and expenditures.
Says at the link that rauners people threatened Kelly on election day. Isn’t rauner supposed to be change? With the threats against McKinney, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

That this “news” is reported on Capitol Fax just made Kelly’s day. He’s in dire need of constant attention but the truth is he’s utterly irrelevant. Let’s now officially conclude that Kelly’s extended 15 minutes are up … and move on.
I am chuckling to myself as I recount these few things…William J. Kelly is a real piece of work, it would be fun to laugh outright as he is becoming a parody of instability, he is becoming the GOP parties modern version of ray warningly…AKA Spanky the clown!
Does anyone seriously think that Rahm need this guy to break the caps? That is laughable. The guy with all the money is broken up about this? Yeah sure.

Question for some of the legal minds on here:
what is the law regarding claiming to place $-one hundred thousand dollars into your campaign organizations account and not “really’ doing so?
is that a violation of the law or at least the campaign finance laws?
I mean this has just created a “real problem” for the other two candidates running for Chicago Mayor, that are actually legitimate in their run for Mayor.
Has William Kelly Violated any laws here?
Rich, these comments are getting excessively rabid, the insults are beyond gratuitous, and stating that someone has violated the law without any proof of that activity is defamation per se. Despite your dislike of Kelly, I do believe you owe it to your site and your readers to monitor this thread and take down the defamatory comments.
@Fair and Balanced and @Gal Friday - other than your cray cray behavior - where is the proof that Kelly didn’t put $100K in the account? Hasn’t Kelly run for statewide office previously? I’m sorry but this is starting to get bizarre and stalkerish. Someone didn’t take their meds today.
Time to get back under the bridge, William J. The 15 minutes are over.

tangential to this - what’s to prevent any candidate/incumbent who wants the cap broken to have a friend run, donate $100k to his own campaign, not spend the $, then drop out of the race?
Just curious. Did he really “donate” the 100 grand, or just “loan” it to his campaign? Makes a big difference from a tax and accessiblity to get the cash back in his pocket perspective. The “loan” approach is pretty common for candidates. It’s an easy way to get their money back, especially if they win and are flush with influence peddling cash donations afterwards…..
BTW,for those who say he’s not a “trust fund baby”, not every trust fund is set up by your parents. Grandparent are perhaps more of source for this in many cases.
Sorority sister of my youngest daughter just found out that her recently deceased Canadian grandma had a trust for her and she picks up a cool million bucks (American) when she reaches 25. Another had grandparents from Seattle who were “MICROSOFT MILLIONAIRES” and left her seven figures in a trust. Let’s just say she’s not particulary worried about her starting salary when she graduates.
I keep on telling my son that “It’s just as easy to marry a rich girl as a poor one…” Ain’t it the truth!
Does Rupert Pupkin get to open the Jerry Langford show now?
