If WIU is correct in 65% increase in tuition; then you are going to see no middle class or any non rich kids going to a state university.
This could be the end of middle class dream that started with GI Bill which help build post war America. were are we going to find the workers of the future.
WIU is leading the way on this? Not sure they should be the rabbit on this one.

This is why more and more middle-class students are going to out of state universities- it’s usually cheaper than in-state rates at a Illinois college. And those students don’t usually come back to Illinois, accelerating the Illinois brain drain. Can and should universities cut some fat- absolutely, but Rauner’s proposed cut is impossible for them to absorb so quickly. Plus, WIU has a cost guarantee, so incoming freshman would bear the burden of Rauner’s cuts.

Would need 65% tuition increase.
By what percentage has tuition increased over the past decade?
- VanillaMan - Thursday, Mar 12, 15 @ 9:54 am:
It looks like tuition doubled at WIU since 2005.

WIU has no choice on the tuition front. They’re at the bottom of the pecking order among the state’s 4 years for funding.
