===The governor’s office says the resolution was the original draft, with no changes.===
Um, governor’s office, wasn’t that the whole point, passed “as is”?
If you’re excited on a result you expected, that isn’t winning, that’s called “hangin’ on!”
- JS Mill - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 12:02 pm:
Let me know when you get on in Cook County big guy.
- Wordslinger - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 12:06 pm:
Rauner Rewards checks are in the mail, I presume.
- Langhorne - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 12:11 pm:
What a pathetic exercise
7,000 units of govt and…… Never mind

Looking forward to seeing who signed off on the Clinton resolution. Sad, sad, sad.

To be symmetrical, local communities should be able to exclude goods & services that are produced in places that have lower labor & environmental standards.
Of course, the capital class has already made this illegal through the World Trade Organization.
- Carl Nyberg - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 12:18 pm:
Now would be a good time for UNITE HERE & the trades unions that endorsed Rahm Emanuel to call in a favor.

East Dundee is heavily under the influence of Trustee Allen Skillicorn, who is a proud Tea Party activist.

Is this how state government is suppose to work? I don’t think so. Dear Govenor, have the debate in Springfield where it belongs and leave these innocent local government officals alone.
- Norseman - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 12:26 pm:
Wow, Sonny is now at 0.43%.
- Under Influenced - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 12:27 pm:
2010 census had Makanda’s population at a whopping 516. I’d be curious to know if the Makanda elected officials (trustees/aldermen/tribe leaders/whatever) actually read the “turnaround agenda”…
- Crispy Critter - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 12:27 pm:
So what does this mean for State worker in those towns?
- Just saying... - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 12:27 pm:
Rich…I get the dog and pony populist thing, but unless I don’t understand the process…resolutions really don’t mean a thing as at the end of the day the GA makes the final decision on issues such as these - correct?
- illlinifan - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 12:29 pm:
@ray el…..your comment gave me one of the best laughs for the day…thanks
- Anonyin' - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 12:39 pm:
McHenry County In
Althoff, Tryon and JackSter must be so proud. How much of the slush fund do they get?
Let see that only took about $1 million in staff time and travel expense (no planes just rolling down the road) to get this huge leveraged victory.
We are all proud of you in McHenry
- Tired - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 12:41 pm:
Lets talk about those who voted it down or would not even call it for a vote. Not much here. It would be interesting if this is what is required to get “stalled” grants back.
- Now What? - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 12:41 pm:
And this all means nothing beyond local governments breaking the law. Look forward to the lawsuits.
- Anonyin' - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 12:49 pm:
McHenry Co has audio on website crowd pretty well rakes BVR…he will be proud. BTW 40K union members in McHenry Co.

When (if) he gets to 1%, it will be the 1% supporting the 1%.
- Guzzlepot - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 12:58 pm:
@JS MILL. Even better, let us know when you get it through the General Assembly.
- Obamas Puppy - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 12:58 pm:
You mean that McHenry Co. that bastion of liberalism and progressive ideas or the Sarah Palin loving McHenry Co.?

I have more faith in Cronin & Lawlor in DuPage & Lake Counties to be more reasonable and resist these goofy efforts to divide people.
- Demoralized - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 1:03 pm:
So the Governor is touting as an “accomplishment” that he’s gotten a few towns to pass a resolution that doesn’t mean squat supporting something that has no chance of passing.
Setting the bar kind of low for “accomplishments” are we?
- Hedley Lamarr - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 1:05 pm:
Not surprised. McHenry came out big for Rauner.
- chi - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 1:06 pm:
So if I’m a McHenry County Board member, I must be thinking either a)my seat is safe enough to withstand this vote, or b) I can sell it by telling upset constituents it’s never going to happen anyway, but we will be able to get more money from the State cause we made Rauner happy, so I had to do it.

- QCLib - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 1:07 pm:
I once had a job with a c4 organization where all I did was go from city to city, county to county, etc, and pass nondiscrimination ordinances. While it sounds like you’re making so much progress, it’s a little useless unless you’re at the state level. The real fight though is that it does begin to write a good narrative. “X cities have passed this ordinance, so should the state.”
- BlameBruceRauner - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 1:16 pm:
This accomplishment is like dieting for two weeks and loosing 2 pounds when you are 200 lbs over weight. Its a joke that Muni’s are even voting on this. Waste-O-Time, never going to pass at the state level.
- Anonymous - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 1:25 pm:
I used to stop often in various McHenry county businesses for gas, food, supplies and just about anything I needed when headed on vacation to camping trips or to visit friends in Wonder Lake, Richmond, Johnsburg, etc.
I’m just going to let my wallet be my voice. After I write some letters to the Editors of the NW Herald, Daily Herald and Woodstock Independent publicizing my disdain for the McHenry County Board’s vote, I will NEVER make anymore purchases within their boundaries.
The businesses in McHenry County can make their own ‘business climate’ improve without using my hard earned dollars.

- Down Here - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 1:39 pm:
It sure would be nice if the Gov and his staff concentrated on things that actually matter; like trying to to get an FY 16 budget passed in time for FY16.
The Gov’s office recommending that this ineffectual, irrelevant and illegal resolution be passed by munis and now bragging about a few of them actually passing it is Blago grandstanding at its best. Come on people! Get serious and start acting like grown ups!
- ash - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 1:45 pm:
If Charleston did it, they did so without announcing it to the public.
- walker - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 1:46 pm:
This works for Rauner for the time being.
After a couple of years of no actual progress on the legal and legislative fronts, it could turn on him.
- Ducky LaMoore - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 1:47 pm:
Gosh. I almost feel like Rush Limbaugh. Rooting for the governor to fail, is rooting for Illinois to succeed. How odd.
- Demise - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 1:55 pm:
I worked in McHenry County for three years. I’m not the least bit surprised.
- redeft - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 1:56 pm:
Does anyone know whether this was the Village of Makanda or the Township? I live in the Township, but there has been no notice of this being on the agenda in any paper or other widely available source of info. I am sure there are many here who would oppose it, but most of us don’t pay a lot of attention to the local Village or Township actions.
- redeft - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 2:00 pm:
Just looked at the Agenda for the Village of Makanda Trustee Meeting held on April 6. A resolution supporting Rauner’s “Turn Around Agenda”was on that agenda–so I am assuming it was the Village not the Township. Guess we need to pay closer attention to local politics.

Duke expected to win the national championship, but, they didn’t really win, they just “hung on!”
A win is a win. Dope.
- anonymous - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 2:16 pm:
Charleston passed it. Nothing in local media yet.

===Duke expected to win the national championship, but, they didn’t really win, they just “hung on!”

Um, Duke went 6 for 6. No losses.
Rauner ain’t going 6 for 6.
Sonny is just about at 1% winning percentage.
I know, math must be hard for you. lol
- nona - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 2:24 pm:
== A win is a win. ==
Are we keeping a total of wins AND losses, or do only the former count?
- JS Mill - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 2:32 pm:
“A win is a win.”
Those were wins?
Did they actually do anything besides approve political rhetoric?
Just out of curiosity, what is the prevailing wage in that economic juggernaut of Makanda today compared to yesterday?
Not what I would call a win, but if that is how the Raunerites measure victory I guess my worries are over.
- Apocalypse Now - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 2:34 pm:
=Um, Duke went 6 for 6. No losses=
I wasn’t aware that Duke was undefeated for the season!
My goodness, OW, you are the most thing skinned person I have run across in a long long time. Never wrong, but hardly ever right.
- Oswego Willy - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 2:37 pm:
The NCAA tourney, to win it, you need to win, 6 times, in a row no losses.
You lose you’re out.
You are the Dope that compared this to Duke, not me.
Sorry your analogy backfired on you, but you are spelling apocalypse better…
- Six Degrees of Separation - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 2:38 pm:
McHenry County…isn’t that the one that had a slight loss of population in the latest Census estimate, while neighboring Kane and Lake grew by a few thousand each?
- Arsenal - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 2:39 pm:
“My goodness, OW, you are the most thing skinned person I have run across in a long long time. Never wrong, but hardly ever right.”
We all think our analysis is right, otherwise we wouldn’t say it. That’s a nice try to have it both ways, but I ain’t buyin’ it.
- ash - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 3:00 pm:
After speaking with the Charleston mayor, the city did not endorse the entire Rauner package and actually rejected some of the items. The Governor’s Office failed to mention that….
- ash - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 3:18 pm:
Charleston did approve most of the agenda after waiving the normal two week public viewing period and passing it under the consent agenda, normally reserved for things like approving normal bills, granting raffle licenses, etc.

Chucktown’s resolution has the right to work stuff in it.
- Outsider - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 3:47 pm:
People work in Makanda???
- ash - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 4:25 pm:
Yes, Chucktown is basically approving the most potentially controversial points without allowing for public comment.
- 47th Ward - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 4:28 pm:
Wow, Fayetteville AND Bluford? Maybe there is a wave of support building afterall.
- A guy - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 4:40 pm:
Um, with all due respect to our resident Commenter an really liked guy Willy, Y’all made a pretty big deal about the line in the sand drawn in Oswego. Some of the towns that have passed this meet the population numbers there. In fact, most of the places that the unions have filled the gallery seem to be smaller communities. Voting to Table isn’t a win nowadays, is it?
- Steve - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 4:43 pm:
East Dundee passed the resolution in a special meeting. I was under the impression special meetings were for items that couldn’t wait for regular meetings. Am I wrong?
- Oswego Willy - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 4:48 pm:
- A Guy -,
What are you saying?
- OneMan - Thursday, Apr 9, 15 @ 5:05 pm:
Aurora is going to vote on it next week and it is going to go down in flames….
